ceremony for the beautifully refurbished Veteran’s War Memorial. Join us for a Veterans luncheon in the Library Meeting Room at 12PM followed by a brief recognition ceremony. The Blue Island Public Library gratefully acknowledges and appreciates the work of the Friends of the Library on this project.

CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE Saturday, December 2nd. Our Annual Open House will celebrate

Christmas on the (Blue) Island with a performance by Aloha Chicago. Stop by for hot chocolate and cookies before the performance, which begins at 6:15PM. Also, Classic Christmas movies for kids in the Meeting Room from 1-4PM.

Creative Nonsense

Every Monday, 6-8PM. Teen Open Studio. Be a part of ongoing effort to produce a library “zine”, or work on your own stuff. With art supplies purchased through a grant from the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation, we draw, write, paint, print, or other . . . creative nonsense.

Game Night

First Thursday of every month (11/2, 12/7), 6-8PM. What did we do before video games? Bring in the board game of your choice, or try out the ones from our collection. Bring a friend. Bring a group of friends. Snacks will be provided!!!

Mini-Skull Christmas Ornaments

Dec. 4th, 5-6PM. Polymer clay and a toaster oven. And you don’t have to make skulls if that’s too macabre for you. You can make anything you want. Space limited to 15 participants. Priority given to teenaged patrons (13+).

Costume Craft: Gauntlet

Nov. 16th , 6-7PM. Following the discussion of Karuna Riazi’s new novel The Gauntlet in the Children’s Department, we’ll be making steampunk gauntlets of our very own, using cardboard and duct tape. Space Limited to 15 participants.

Dec. 14th, 5-6PM. What better Christmas gift than a voodoo doll? Felt and buttons and stuffing. No real voodoo involved. It’s all in fun. Limit 10 participants. Priority given to teen-aged patrons (13+).
