Veterinary Student Scholarship Program 2016
And the selected students are… In June 2016, MSD Animal Health and the World Veterinary Association (WVA) launched the 2016 Veterinary Student Scholarship Program providing $55,000 in financing eleven scholarships to be awarded to veterinary students from Latin America Region to enhance their academic experience and to further supports the quality of education and training for future veterinarians.
MSD and WVA are delighted to announce the 11 veterinary students from 9 countries in the Latin America Region that have been selected for the 2016 Veterinary Student Scholarship Program to be granted with a scholarship of 5,000 US Dollars to enhance their academic experience. The WVA Review Committee evaluated carefully the 46 applications received based on specific scoring rubric and finally selected 11 students which five of them are specializing in the field of companion animal and equine and six in the fields of production animal, aquaculture and poultry. The WVA President, Dr René Carlson states; The future of the veterinary profession are the veterinary students. By investing and promoting excellent students, the WVA and MSD, are promoting and developing further animal health, animal welfare and public health to the benefit of animals and society in the Latin America Region and globally. “Students like these are the reason the future of veterinary medicine is so bright,” said Ralph Cabezas, vice president, Latin America, MSD Animal Health. “All of the award recipients have the potential to better our industry and make impactful contributions that will advance the ways in which we approach veterinary medicine. We are proud to support the educational foundation of these students, who demonstrate a true commitment to protecting and strengthening the health and well-being of animals.”
