Description of duties:

The Specialist will have the following duties: 

Conducir la gestión de la política institucional de género del IICA, que incluye formulación, diseño, coordinación y seguimiento de un plan de transversalización institucional del enfoque de género. Promover la incorporación de orientaciones y criterios de género, juventud, igualdad y equidad en las políticas, procedimientos, e instrumentos de cooperación técnica institucionales. Brindar asesoría técnica especializada en inclusión social, económica y cultural, con foco en género y juventud rural. Apoyar el diseño, ejecución y seguimiento de actividades de cooperación y alianzas estratégicas en género y juventud rural entre el IICA e instituciones y organizaciones nacionales e internacionales.









Diseñar y desarrollar programas de formación y capacitación en equidad, inclusión, género y juventud rural, así como preparar y brindar talleres, charlas, conferencias y ponencias sobre inclusión, género, juventud y políticas de igualdad en los Países Miembros y en apoyo a las Representaciones del IICA.





Gestionar recursos externos, especialmente a partir de la formulación de proyectos técnicos en apoyo a temas de género y juventud.





Apoyar la formulación o mejora de políticas públicas, programas o proyectos y el fortalecimiento institucional de los Países Miembros en temas de género y juventud rural.



Coordinar el desarrollo de estudios, análisis, metodologías y buenas prácticas en apoyo a los temas de género y juventud rural.





Lead the management of IICA’s institutional gender policy, which includes the development, design, coordination and monitoring of an institutional gender mainstreaming plan. Promote the incorporation of guidelines and criteria related to gender, youth, equality and equity into technical cooperation policies, procedures and instruments. Provide specialized technical counsel on social, economic and cultural inclusion, with a focus on gender and rural youth. Support the design, execution and monitoring of cooperation and strategic partnerships related to gender and rural youth between IICA and national and international institutions and organizations. Design and develop capacity-building and training programs on equity, inclusion, gender and rural youth, as well as prepare and provide workshops, lectures, conferences and presentations on policies related to inclusion, gender, youth and equality, in the member countries and in IICA Delegations. Manage external resources, particularly through the development of technical projects that support topics related to gender and youth. Support the development or improvement of public policies, programs or projects related to gender and rural youth, as well as institutional strengthening in those topics, in the member countries. Coordinate the development of studies, analyses, methodologies and good practices that support topics related to gender and rural youth.

Qualifications and competencies: Requisitos y competencias: Nacionalidad: Los candidatos interesados deben ser nacionales de Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of any of the 34 member countries of IICA (www.iica.int). cualquiera de los 34 países miembros del Instituto (www.iica.int). Educación: El candidato debe tener formación en Profesional en Ciencias Sociales, Económicas o Agropecuarias o una carrera afín. Una maestría de una universidad renombrada y una amplia experiencia a nivel internacional es una ventaja.

Education: The applicant must have academic training in Social, Economic or Agricultural Sciences. A Master’s from a renowned university, as well as broad experience at the international level, will be an asset.

Experiencia laboral: Se espera que el candidato cuente con un mínimo de 5 años de experiencia profesional nacional e internacional comprobada en actividades de inclusión social, económica y cultural; articulación inter-institucional; formulación de proyectos; formación de capacidades; conocimiento de políticas públicas inclusivas con énfasis en género y juventud.

Work experience: Applicants must have at least 5 years of proven professional experience at the national and international level in activities related to Social, economic and cultural inclusion; interinstitutional coordination; project development; capacity building; inclusive public policies with a focus on gender and youth.

Idiomas: Es requisito indispensable el dominio completo del idioma Languages: Full language proficiency in English and Spanish is español y del inglés. El conocimiento de francés y portugués será an essential requirement. Knowledge of French and Portuguese valorado will be an asset. Aptitudes: Conocimiento a nivel usuario de procesadores de texto, hojas de cálculo, correo electrónico, operación de programas del entorno Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet Explorer etc.) manejo de redes sociales y otros.

Skills: User-level knowledge of word processors, spreadsheets, email, Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet Explorer, etc.) and management of social networking and other sites.
