Dear Parishioners, I’m writing this article while on retreat with the priests of the Diocese of Las Vegas and Bishop Thomas. It has been a wonderful retreat and as we celebrate Mass we are remembering all of your intentions. As we move into the summer season, I wanted to let you know the other two messages of Medjugorje. I mentioned last week about the importance of attending Mass, going to Confession on a regular basis, and reading the Bible. Another message is the importance of daily prayer, especially the rosary. Daily prayer focuses us on putting God first in our lives. The Rosary keeps us focused on what Jesus did for you and me. When was the last time you prayed the Rosary? When was the last time you prayed the Rosary as a family? When was the last time you prayed daily? If it has been a while, this summer would be a great time to start praying. Remember that the family that prays together, stays together. The final message is the importance of fasting. It is suggested that you fast with bread and water on Wednesdays and Fridays. But it doesn’t have to be bread and water, it could be fasting from social media, from television, from excessive work, whatever prevents us from putting God first in our lives. As we celebrate Pentecost Sunday this weekend, we pray that the Holy Spirit will touch our lives in a special way so that we will use the gifts and talents the Lord has given us to draw others closer to Christ. We pray that this summer will be a time of relaxation and refreshment. May we include God in our summer plans. May God richly bless you and your families. Happy Pentecost!!

Ha sido un maravilloso retiro y al celebrar Misa estuvimos recordando todas sus intenciones. A medida que avanzamos en la temporada de verano, quería hacerle saber los otros dos mensajes de Medjugorje. Mencioné la semana pasada sobre la importancia de asistir a Misa, ir a la Confesión de manera regular y la lectura de la Biblia. Otro mensaje es la importancia de la oración diaria, especialmente el Rosario. Oración diaria nos centra en poner a Dios primero en nuestras vidas. El Rosario nos mantiene enfocados en lo que Jesús hizo por usted y por mí. ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que rezaste el Rosario? ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que rezó el Rosario en familia? ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que hiciste tu oración diaria? Si ya ha pasado un tiempo, este verano sería un buen momento para empezar a orar. Recuerde que la familia que ora unida, permanece unida. El mensaje final es la importancia del ayuno. Se sugiere ayunar con pan y agua los Miércoles y Viernes. Pero no tiene que ser pan y agua, puede ser ayuno de redes sociales, de televisión, de exceso de trabajo, lo que nos impide poner a Dios primero en nuestras vidas. Al celebrar este fin de semana del Domingo de Pentecostés, oramos que el Espíritu Santo toque nuestras vidas de una manera especial para que utilicemos los dones y talentos que el Señor nos ha dado para traer a otros más cerca de Cristo. Oramos para que este verano sea un tiempo de descanso y refrigerio y que podamos incluir a Dios en nuestros planes de verano. Que Dios bendiga ricamente a usted y a sus familias. ¡Feliz Pentecostés!!!!
