Dear Parishioners, The weekend of February 10th, we kicked off our Catholic Stewardship Appeal (CSA). We are still very short from our goal this year. It is going to take everyone participating to reach our goal. If you did not make a pledge, please pick up an envelope in the vestibule of the church or chapel and fill it out and return it to the office or collection basket, or you may mail it to the Diocese. In 10 days we begin the season of Lent. The Ash Wednesday schedule of Masses is in the bulletin. On Fridays during Lent, we have Soup Suppers at 6 pm and Stations of the Cross at 7 pm. Remember that Ash Wednesday is a day of Fasting and Abstinence, and Fridays during Lent are days of Abstinence. For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards. During the season of Lent and into the Easter season, there will be an exciting way to learn more about our Catholic faith offered in English. A program will be offered Wednesday mornings and repeated Wednesday evenings. It will begin in March. Stay tuned to next week’s bulletin and announcements. On Sunday, March 10th you are invited to the Rite of Election. The Rite of Election supports our Catechumens (those to be baptized, confirmed, and receiving the Eucharist). Our Catechumens will be received into the Church at the Easter Vigil. Support our Catechumens from around the Diocese of Las Vegas at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Bishop Thomas. See bulletin for details. We are looking for a part-time maintenance person. We also have a new ministry starting March 7th to make Prayer Pockets called Sewn in Love. Queridos Parroquianos, El fin de semana del 10 de Febrero, iniciamos nuestra Apelación de Administración Católica (CSA)(Diezmo). Todavía estamos muy por debajo de nuestro objetivo este año. En 10 días comenzamos la temporada de Cuaresma. El horario de Misas del Miércoles de Ceniza está en el Boletín. Los Viernes durante la Cuaresma, tenemos cenas de sopa a las 6 pm y las Estaciones de la Cruz a las 7 pm. Recuerde que el Miércoles de Ceniza es un día de ayuno y abstinencia, y los viernes durante la Cuaresma son días de abstinencia. Para los miembros de la Iglesia Católica Latina, las normas sobre el ayuno son obligatorias desde los 18 años hasta los 59 años. Cuando se realiza el ayuno, se permite a la persona comer una comida completa, así como dos comidas más pequeñas que juntas no son iguales a una comida completa. Las normas relativas a la abstinencia de la carne son vinculantes para los miembros de la Iglesia Católica Latina desde los 14 años en adelante. Durante la temporada de Cuaresma y en la temporada de Pascua, habrá una manera emocionante de aprender más sobre nuestra fe Católica ofrecida en Inglés. Se ofrecerá un programa el Miércoles por la mañana y se repetirá el Miércoles por la noche. Comenzará en Marzo. Estén atentos al boletín y anuncios de la próxima semana. El Domingo, 10 de Marzo, están invitados al Rito de Elección. El Rito de la Elección apoya a nuestros Catecúmenos (aquellos que serán bautizados, confirmados y reciban la Eucaristía). Nuestros Catecúmenos serán recibidos en la Iglesia en la Vigilia Pascual. Apoye a nuestros Catecúmenos de la Diócesis de Las Vegas en la Iglesia Católica Holy Spirit con el Obispo Thomas.
