Dear brothers and sisters, today we celebrate the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, today we bring to mind that Jesus gave his life for our salvation. It is a feast that recalls Jesus' command to celebrate the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. In his own words, St. Paul ordered the Corinthians to "Proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes." These words were not an invention of the mind of St. Paul. They were reformulated words that Jesus commanded his followers during the Last Supper when he said: "Do this in memory of me." (Lk.22: 19)

Jesus during his ministry on earth said: "I am the living bread that came down from heaven, whoever eats this bread will live forever, and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh." (John 6:51) While these words were not understood at the time Jesus preached to the crowd, they spoke in preparation for the sacrifice of His Body and Blood that He was about to offer for the sins of the world. When the night of the last supper arrived, Jesus taught his disciples the way in which the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist should be celebrated. What’s more, Jesus revealed that he would be physically present in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. But what is the Eucharist? "The Catholic Church teaches that in the Eucharist it is the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ that are present in a real, true, substantial and permanent way for the nourishment of souls, through the transubstantiation of the bread and wine that become the Body and Blood of Christ, that is, the Mass". "Transubstantiation is the word that was officially approved by the Council of Trent to accurately express the wonderful and singular change of all the substance of bread in all the substance of the Body of Christ, and of all the substance of wine in His Blood. "This real presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist is demonstrated from the literal interpretation of Christ's promise to give his Body and Blood, as found in the Gospel of St. John, Chapter 6, and the four independent accounts of the fulfillment of the promise at the Last Supper (Mt. 26; Mk. 14; Lk. 22; 1 Cor. 11). In the same way, it follows that Christ is present through Transubstantiation, that is, that all the substance of bread and wine is transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ, leaving the accidents of bread and wine. "The accidents of bread and wine are, therefore, without their own substance, but they are real and are not mere subjective impressions. The mode of Christ's presence is similar to spirit, something like the soul in the body. Jesus is complete in the entire Host and complete in every part of it. At the same time, He exists in heaven and in many different

My brothers and sisters, taking into account all the undeserved graces that we receive through the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, with this Sacrament also come responsibilities. Our first responsibility is the way we receive the Body and Blood of Christ. Before we approach the Altar of the Lord Jesus to hold His Body and Blood in our hands, we must be in a state of grace. Those who neglect the Sacrament of Confession and receive the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist while in a state of mortal sin, greatly offend the Lord Jesus. In other words, it is not acceptable to receive Holy Communion when one lives in mortal sins and has no intention of changing one's lifestyle. Those who are not in a state of grace do not qualify to receive the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

My brothers and sisters, this week, let's reflect on our actions. Are we all showing the greatest reverence to the Body and Blood of Christ? If some of us have failed to do so, this week may be a time to repent of the sinful way through the grace of God. And it can be a time to once again obtain the Grace of God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation and then receive the Body and Blood of Christ in order to proclaim His death and Resurrection until He comes. Estimados hermanos y hermanas, hoy celebramos la fiesta del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo, hoy traemos a la memoria que Jesús dio su vida por nuestra salvación. Es una fiesta que recuerda el mandato de Jesús de celebrar el Sacramento de la Sagrada Eucaristía. En sus propias palabras, San Pablo ordenó a los corintios que "Proclamen la muerte del Señor hasta que Él venga". Estas palabras no fueron una invención de la mente de San Pablo. Fueron palabras reformuladas que Jesús ordenó a sus seguidores durante la Última Cena cuando dijo: "Hagan esto en memoria mía". (Lk. 22:19)

Mis hermanos y hermanas, teniendo en cuenta todas las gracias inmerecidas que recibimos a través del Sacramento de la Sagrada Eucaristía, con este Sacramento también vienen las responsabilidades. Nuestra primera responsabilidad es el modo en que recibimos el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. Antes de acercarnos al Altar del Señor Jesús para sostener Su Cuerpo y Sangre en nuestras manos, debemos estar en un estado de gracia. Aquellos que descuidan el Sacramento de la Confesión y reciben el Sacramento de la Sagrada Eucaristía mientras se encuentran en un estado de pecado mortal, ofenden grandemente al Señor Jesús. En otras palabras, no es aceptable recibir el Sacramento de la Comunión cuando uno vive en pecados mortales y no tiene intención de cambiar su estilo de vida. Aquellos que no están en estado de gracia no califican para recibir el Sacramento de la Sagrada Eucaristía.

Jesús durante su ministerio en la tierra, dijo: "Yo soy el pan vivo que bajó del cielo. El que come de este pan vivirá para siempre; y el pan que daré por la vida del mundo es mi carne". (Jn. 6:51) Si bien estas palabras no se entendieron en el momento en que Jesús las predicó a la multitud, se hablaron en preparación para el sacrificio de Su Cuerpo y Sangre que Él estaba a punto de ofrecer por los pecados del mundo. Cuando llegó la noche de la última cena, Jesús enseñó a sus discípulos la manera en que debía celebrarse el Sacramento de la Sagrada Eucaristía. Más allá de esto, Jesús reveló que estaría físicamente presente en el Sacramento de la Sagrada Eucaristía. ¿Pero que es la Eucaristía? “La Iglesia Católica enseña que en la Eucaristía es el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Jesucristo que están presentes de manera real, verdadera, sustancial y permanente para el alimento de las almas, a través de la Transubstanciación del pan y del vino que se convierten en el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo, es decir, la Misa”. “La transubstanciación es la palabra que fue oficialmente aprobada por el Concilio de Trento para expresar acertadamente el maravilloso y singular cambio de toda la sustancia del pan en toda la sustancia del Cuerpo de Cristo, y de toda la sustancia del vino en Su Sangre”. “Esta presencia real de Jesús en la Sagrada Eucaristía se demuestra a partir de la interpretación literal de la promesa de Cristo de dar su Cuerpo y Sangre, tal como se encuentra en el Evangelio de San Juan, Capítulo 6, y de los cuatro relatos independientes del cumplimiento de la promesa en la última Cena (Mt. 26; Mc. 14; Lc. 22; 1 Cor. 11). Si algunos de nosotros no hemos logrado hacerlo, esta semana puede ser un momento para arrepentirnos de la manera pecaminosa a través de la gracia de Dios. Y puede ser un tiempo para obtener una vez más la Gracia de Dios a través del Sacramento de la Reconciliación y luego recibir el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo para poder proclamar Su muerte y Resurrección hasta que Él venga.

A WAITING HARVEST Religious Life

Vocation Awareness

The call to religious life is another extraordinary vocation. It is not a sacrament of the Church, but it is a very heroic, penitential, sacrificial life of service to build up the Kingdom of God. To be theologically precise, it is a higher vocation than priesthood or marriage. It is not a “better” vocation, because what is best for each person is precisely the God pre-determined vocation for that individual. But religious life is a more perfect life in the sense that it is directed to the Evangelical Counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience, which more perfectly reflect the eternal destiny of every person in Heaven. This life was lived, described, and recommended by Jesus Christ himself, so the Church calls this the most perfect life. Living out these radical vows is not for everyone, but it is an extraordinary vocation. The religious state is thus one way of experiencing a “more intimate” consecration… In the consecrated life, Christ’s faithful, moved by the Holy Spirit, propose to follow Christ more nearly, to give themselves to God who is loved above all and pursuing the perfection of charity in the service of the Kingdom, to signify and proclaim in the Church the glory of the world to come (CCC # 916). Men called to the consecrated religious life are called brothers. Besides embracing the three evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience, they are called to live in a community with other men, praying, working, sacrificing, and serving together for a specific apostolate of the Church, men called to religious life might join religious

orders such as the Jesuits, the Franciscans, the Dominicans and the Benedictines, there are literally hundreds of different religious congregation in the church and they each have their own specific charism and ways of living out religious life. Historically, they have each had their own distinctive habit or way of dress, enabling them to easily be recognized as religious brothers of a particular order, though this is not common today. They have taken formal, public vows recognized by the Church to consecrate their lives to Christ in this way. Obviously, women can be called to the religious life also and there are many different religious communities of women in the Church. Some religious brothers go on to be ordained priests, but they are not diocesan priests. A diocesan priest is ordained for a certain diocese and usually spends his entire life serving in the various parishes of the diocese, sometimes Catholics who grew up being cared for by religious priests will ask a diocesan priest, “Father, what order do you belong to? Diocesan priests will often smile and reply, “The order of Melchizedek,” or “The order of St. Peter.” It is a humorous way of saying, “I’m the original kind of priest – a diocesan priest.” ”From the Book” “To Save a Thousand Souls” Fr.
