Let us Reflect... In today's Gospel passage, at the Last Supper Jesus hints at the future of the community of his disciples. He is preparing them for life without his visible presence. What will hold the community together and sustain it to fulfill God's purpose? Jesus presents himself as the vine and his followers as the branches. Their common purpose is to bear fruit. When Jesus repeats "remain in me" and "bear fruit" many times in this passage, he reminds his followers that we must stay connected with him to fulfill our purpose. As the Letter of John describes, a living faith in Christ and a life filled with love are bound together in a single commandment. All our energy to do good and our hope that our good work will endure come through our unity with Jesus. Prayer and action must be woven together into the fabric of each Christian person and community.

The Celebration of the Holy Eucharist or the Mass is central to our faith and is a great source of grace. However, what comes with this precious Divine gift is a great challenge – that is to be grateful, to appreciate and to share this gift. The first and simple way is to come to Mass every Sunday or the Lord’s Day. This is one way of inculcating in the minds and hearts of our young people how central and essential is the Eucharist to our faith life. This is how we fulfill what our Lord JMJ Jesus tells us in the Gospel to remain in His love. 6 de mayo de 2018 Failure to come to Sunday Mass results in a severance of the relationship we try to develop in our children with our Loving God because we do not give them the chance to encounter Him and the faith community they live in. Mi Querida Familia Parroquial, Dios esté con nosotros siempre.

La Celebración de la Sagrada Eucaristía o la Misa es central para nuestra fe y es una gran fuente de gracia. Sin embargo, lo que viene con este precioso regalo Divino es un gran desafío: es ser agradecido, apreciar y compartir este regalo. La primera y simple manera es venir a misa todos los domingos o el día del Señor. Esta es una manera de inculcar en las mentes y corazones de nuestros jóvenes cuán central y esencial es la Eucaristía para nuestra vida de fe. Así es como cumplimos lo que nuestro Señor Jesús nos dice en el Evangelio para permanecer en Su amor. La falta de asistencia a la misa dominical produce una ruptura de la relación que tratamos de desarrollar en nuestros hijos con nuestro Dios amoroso porque no les damos la oportunidad de encontrarlo a él y a la comunidad de fe en la que viven. ¿Necesito mencionar lo obvio que es un pecado mortal si tomamos conscientemente la decisión de no asistir a la misa dominical. Una vez más, quiero enfatizar que esta ha sido la posición de nuestra Santa Madre Iglesia y no ha cambiado. Me parte el corazón que nuestros jóvenes, después de la exuberancia y la alegría de recibir finalmente el Sagrado Cuerpo y la Sangre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, se perderán la celebración de la Comida Eucarística. Tenemos la Liturgia de la Palabra de los Niños, la Misa Familiar y la oportunidad de servir en la Misa con el propósito de hacer de la Misa verdaderamente un lugar de encuentro con nuestro Salvador. Esto solo puede suceder cuando, como padres, tomamos la decisión de estar presentes en la siempre presente y verdadera Presencia amorosa de Nuestro Señor Jesús en la Eucaristía. Mass with Anointing of the Sick Mass with Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated on the second Saturday (May 12th) of every month during the 8am Mass. Come and experience the power of faith and the healing presence of God. PARISHES IN COLLABORATION COLLECTION May 19th and May 20th On the weekend of May 19th and 20th, all people of the Diocese of Orange will have the opportunity to donate to the Parishes in Collaboration Collection. This collection is for the purpose of assisting parishes in the Diocese of Orange that exhibit ongoing needs that cannot be paid for by their ordinary income and have urgent needs (such as repairs and maintenance). All money donated tot his collection is put into a restricted fund that will be administered by a group consisting of laity and clergy of the diocese. Parishes with needs as stated above will apply for grants from this fund to be used for their specific needs. Most recently the committee has focused the grants to safety issues including emergency electrical and plumbing repairs. By participating in the Parishes in Collaboration Collection, all people of the Diocese of Orange are helping one another support the works of our parishes that struggle financially. Our Adult Confirmation program will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Pentecost Sunday, May 20th. We pray that the Holy Spirit guide their steps as they keep preparing to receive in their heats the Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear.

Please keep those affected by any MENTAL HEALTH disorder in your thoughts and prayers. Statistics indicate 1 of 4 adults and 1 of 5 children suffer with some type of mental disorder.

Marian Consecration We invite all Parishioners to this most beautiful consecration of the Blessed Mother, it will change your life forever by bringing you closer to Jesus through His mother Mary. You may find the guide book in the office or outside after all Masses for a $5 donation. Preparation will begin 33 days before, on May 5th at 6:30pm or May 6th at 3:30pm. The consecration will take place on the Feast of the Sacred Heart on June 8th beginning with a Prayer Service at 5:00pm, followed by 6:00pm Mass. For any questions, contact Fr. Stephen L.

Our monthly food drive to assist South County Outreach is held the second weekend of each month. If you are unable to bring your donation this weekend, remember there are baskets in the parish hall that you can put your donations into during the week. Thank Santiago de Compostela Church members. We collected 920 lbs. of food for the month of March. Thank you so much for helping us fill our shelves for our families, seniors and homeless clients!

Free Nurse Visits at Santiago On the second Friday (May 11th) of each month from 5pm to 6:30pm, you can drop in and talk with a Mission Hospital Nurse in a private setting in the parish hall regarding: • Your health questions or concerns • Nutritional Counseling • Coping with Life Changes • Blood Pressure Counseling • Resources for you and your family

RECYCLING WE NEED YOUR RECYCLABLES The Knights need your help in collecting recyclables. Your recyclables are a gift to those in need. The “Lord” asks that we reach out to others and this can be your way to do so. We look forward to seeing all of you Saturday May 12th, 2018. Orange Diocesan Council of Catholic Women May 15th April showers bring May flowers. This is a special meeting with the Luminous rosary, Crowning of May with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima, ending with the installation of new ODCCW officers for 2018-2020. The site is at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Yorba Linda on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018. The donation is $18 and you will enjoy a continental breakfast, lunch and this special presentation. COLECTA DE PARROQUIAS EN COLABORACIÓN 20 de mayo El fin de semana del 20 de mayo de 2018, todas las personas de la Diócesis de Orange tendrán la oportunidad de donar a la Colecta de Parroquias en Colaboración. Esta colecta tiene el fin de ayudar a las parroquias de la Diócesis de Orange que presentan necesidades que no pueden ser cubiertas por sus ingresos ordinarios y tiene necesidades urgentes (como reparaciones y mantenimiento). Todo el dinero donado a esta colecta se pondrá en un fondo restringido que será administrado por un grupo de laicos y clero de la diócesis. Parroquias con necesidades como se indico anteriormente aplicaran para subvenciones de este fondo que se utilizara para sus necesidades especificas. Mas recientemente la comisión se ha concentrado en concedes asistencia para proyectos de seguridad incluyendo la emergencia eléctrica y reparaciones de plomería. Participando en la Colecta de Parroquias en Colaboración, todas personas de la Diócesis de Orange están ayudando mutuamente apoyar los trabajos de nuestras parroquias que luchan económicamente. Veamos que dicen las escrituras Sagradas acerca de Jesús: “Yo soy fuente de agua viva”. Jn 4, 14, “Yo soy aliento de vida”. Hechos 17,25, “Yo soy pan de vida”. Jn 6, 35, “Yo soy la luz del mundo Jn 8, 12”. ¡Está muy claro, todos necesitamos a Jesús en nuestra vida para vivir! Aliméntate con su Cuerpo y su Sangre, con su Palabra, aclama al Espíritu Santo para que sea derramado en ti, y ruega para que te guie con su luz. Jesús nos dice: “Yo he venido para que tengan vida y la tengan en abundancia” Jn 10,10.
