Second Sunday In Ordinary Time Study, other spiritual activities and formation also offer us an opportunity for growth and spiritual maturity. Let us continue to engage in our call to discipleship and stewardship. JMJ January 14, 2018 My Dearest Parish Family, God be with us always.

As we go through the daily grind of life this year, let us remember to give time and space for prayer so we can keep the joy of being loved by God everyday. Who knows the experience of God’s love may just be a blanket away.

It has been two weeks into the New God bless and take care. Year and it is a sincere hope that we still experience the same joy, hope and Love and prayers, love the birth of the Christ child brought us with His Birth. I shared in one of my homilies that I have been using for quite sometime a Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval blanket someone made for me as a Christmas gift. I thought it was a little narrow but really warm so it is used in combination with another blanket. Last New Year’s Day, after spending the whole day with my brother and my cousins’ family, I came back to an empty Rectory. Fr. Stephen was on vacation in Chicago and I think Fr. Joseph was not here too. I was feeling lonely and got ready for bed when I saw for the first time the inside design of the gift blanket – guess what it said “Joy, joy, joy . . .” all over. So I slept that night covered in “joy” that melted away my loneliness and woke up feeling loved by God . . . and I am JMJ gratefully joyful. Little experiences like these – which are grace-filled moments 14 de enero de 2018 for me, is what makes me smile and even sing. Mi Querida Familia Parroquial, What has the two weeks of 2018 been like for you and your loved ones? If we Dios esté con nosotros siempre. look deep enough and be open to the Han pasado dos semanas del Año Spirit then we can experience graceNuevo y es una sincera esperanza de filled moments in surprising situations que todavía experimentemos la misma and circumstances. cobija.

Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval

Foreign Currency and Tithing From time to time we receive foreign currency in our Sunday collection. Unfortunately, we are not able to deposit foreign monies with our bank. We dislike to throw away currency just because it is of no use to the parish when we know it has value elsewhere, so we ask you to please refrain from contributing with foreign coin. We appreciate our parishioner’s time, talent, and U.S. treasure!

PATIO UPDATE Our patio will start moving forward in the next couple of months. We are waiting for approval and our contract to be drawn by the Construction Department at the Diocese in order to proceed with demolition and for construction to begin. We thank you for your continuous prayers and generosity!

PASTORAL SERVICES APPEAL (PSA) 2018

Again, this year our diocese is providing opportunities for us to share our resources through the PSA “Proud to be Catholic, Know .Love . Serve” campaign. This annual campaign supports diocesan ministries in many ways. Please look for a letter from Father Thomas in the mail during the first week of February with information on the PSA. This year our Parish’s share of the costs of these ministries is $128,000; donations received over that amount will be returned to the Parish for our building fund needs. Please come to Mass on the weekend of February 17th and 18th and be prepared to make your pledge and initial payment. Please prayerfully consider the amount of your pledge to the PSA. Together we are united in the Catholic faith knowing that through your generosity many people will be served. Thank you for your participation in the life of Santiago de Compostela and the Diocese of Orange.
