Dear Room 7 Families, Happy Earth Day Week!! I know it is only one day, but since we missed it on Monday, we celebrated all day today! The students went to each of the third and fourth grade classrooms to learn something about taking care of God’s creation! In Room 7, the students each made a wren birdhouse to bring home. My family and some friends spent most of the day helping over 100 students build their own birdhouses. Thanks to all my helpers!! What a great way to celebrate Earth Day! Topics we shared information about this week: Religion​- The students have been practicing for this Friday’s Mass. We have gone over Mass parts, acting out the Gospel, and a special song all week. Math​-Due to MAP testing for us and the other classes, we have only had a few math classes this week. The students are comparing fractions and deciding which one is greater and which one is less than the other. We will continue with this topic next week and move on to other fraction ideas! Reading​-Students have been sharing book reports for the month of April. The students have memorized their poems and shared their jokes with the class. Check below to see when your child is sharing or if he/she already did share their book reports. Writing​-The class is almost ready to start the outline of their animal research paper. We sorted our animal research notecards into categories this week and will start writing an outline soon. Science​-Ask the students what they have been learning in Ms. Etter’s science class. They came back from science excited about maggots and leeches one day! Tomorrow, April 26, is our turn to host the Mass. If you are available to attend, please do! The students will be acting out the Gospel and singing a song after Mass is over. They have practiced for the last few weeks. Praising Jesus is a great way to show our love for Him! Many of the students in Room 7 have signed up for Sailing with the Savior for Friday night after school. The students will be dismissed from their classrooms and meet Mrs. Bennin in the library right after school. From there, they will be going outside, if it is nice, to play Shipwrecked, or will be playing it in the gym. They will be eating taco boats together, doing some STEM activities, acting out some skits, and doing a short prayer service. The students will be in the library at 7:00 PM. This is where parents should pick them up; use the main doors to enter school. They will have their jackets and backpacks in the library. There will be a sign-out sheet for parents to sign so we know that everyone has been picked up. Book reports are almost finished for April. Here is the schedule for Friday and Monday. Already shared - Beledine, Evelyn, Lilly, Hunter, Maya, Alonzo, Ryah, Ben S, Dekyren, Cameron, Maddy MAP testing went well again this week. Many students reached their goal score. Many other students were close to their goal. Next week, we will have MAP testing on Monday morning for Reading and Tuesday afternoon for Science. These are our last two MAP tests for this school year. I will get results to you when they are ready to share. If you did not sign and have your child return the yellow permission slip for a field trip to the Cathedral or the Service Day lunch choice, please do that as soon as possible. There are 9 families that need to return one or both of the slips from our classroom. Our school received a grant for outside equipment earlier this year. In order to collect the grant money, our students needed to participate in a school wellness week. Ours was this week. Each classroom was to try to find at least one day to walk around the block! Room 7 wanted to do it every day this week! So far, we have walked three days in a row! Just tomorrow to go!! Mid-trimester reports will be coming home on Tuesday, April 30. Ask your child to see theirs. School Library news: The BIG Book Fair will be May 13-16 this year. Library books that are checked out should be returned starting May 20 (or sooner). The last week to check out books will be the week of May 6. Check around your house for any school library books that can be returned. (If you see one of my classroom library books around your house, return that soon, too!) Questions for the week: How many times did you walk around the block with a teacher at school this week? What songs are you learning and practicing for your recorder in music class? Why were you looking at living creatures in Ms. Etter’s science class? Did you get to touch any of them? What was your favorite activity for Earth Day at school? Do we need to return the Cathedral permission slip or the Service Day lunch slip? Happy Easter Week! Jesus is alive!! Mrs. Waack

Queridas Familias del Salón 7, ¡Feliz semana del Día de la Tierra! Sé que es solo un día, pero como nos perdimos el lunes, ¡celebramos todo el día hoy! ¡Los estudiantes fueron a cada una de las aulas de tercer y cuarto grado para aprender algo sobre cómo cuidar la creación de Dios! En el salón 7, los estudiantes hicieron cada uno una casa para pájaros para llevar a casa. Mi familia y algunos amigos pasaron la mayor parte del día ayudando a más de 100 estudiantes a construir sus propias pajareras. Gracias a todos mis ayudantes !! ¡Qué gran manera de celebrar el Día de la Tierra! Temas que compartimos información sobre esta semana: Religión:​ los estudiantes han estado practicando para la misa de este viernes. Hemos repasado misa partes, representando el Evangelio y una canción especial durante toda la semana. Matemáticas:​ debido a las pruebas MAP para nosotros y para las otras clases, solo hemos tenido algunas clases de matemáticas esta semana. Los estudiantes están comparando fracciones y decidiendo cuál es mayor y cuál es menor que el otro. ¡Continuaremos con este tema la próxima semana y pasaremos a otras ideas de fracciones! Lectura: ​Los estudiantes han estado compartiendo informes de libros para el mes de abril. Los estudiantes han memorizado sus poemas y han compartido sus bromas con la clase. Revise a continuación para ver cuándo comparte su hijo o si ya compartió los informes de sus libros. Escritura​: la clase está casi lista para comenzar el bosquejo de su trabajo de investigación animal. Clasificamos nuestras notas de investigación de animales en categorías esta semana y comenzaremos a escribir un resumen pronto. Ciencia:​ pregunte a los alumnos qué han aprendido en la clase de ciencias de la Sra. Etter. ¡Regresaron de la ciencia entusiasmados con gusanos y sanguijuelas un día! Mañana, 26 de abril, es nuestro turno de organizar la misa. Si está disponible para asistir, ¡hágalo! Los estudiantes estarán representando el Evangelio y cantando una canción después de que termine la misa. Han practicado durante las últimas semanas. ¡Elogiar a Jesús es una gran manera de mostrar nuestro amor por Él! Muchos de los estudiantes en el Salón 7 se han inscrito en Sailing with the Savior para la noche del viernes después de la escuela. Los estudiantes saldrán de sus aulas y se encontrarán con la Sra. Bennin en la biblioteca justo después de la escuela. A partir de ahí, saldrán afuera, si está bien, para jugar a Shipwrecked, o lo jugarán en el gimnasio. Estarán comiendo botes de tacos juntos, haciendo algunas actividades de STEM, representando algunas parodias y haciendo un breve servicio de oración. Los estudiantes estarán en la biblioteca a las 7:00 PM.

Aquí es donde los padres deben recogerlos; Usa las puertas principales para entrar a la escuela. Tendrán sus chaquetas y mochilas en la biblioteca. Habrá una hoja de salida para que los padres firmen para que sepamos que todos han sido recogidos. Los informes de libros están casi terminados para abril. Aquí está el horario de viernes y lunes. Muchos estudiantes alcanzaron su puntaje. Muchos otros estudiantes estaban cerca de su objetivo. La próxima semana, tendremos exámenes MAP el lunes por la mañana para Lectura y el martes por la tarde para Ciencia. Estas son nuestras dos últimas pruebas MAP para este año escolar. Obtendré resultados cuando estén listos para compartir. Si no firmó y le pide a su hijo que devuelva el formulario amarillo de permiso para un viaje a la catedral o al almuerzo del Día del Servicio, hágalo tan pronto como sea posible. Hay 9 familias que necesitan devolver uno o ambos formularios de nuestra clase. Nuestra escuela recibió una subvención para equipos externos a principios de este año. Para poder recolectar el dinero de la subvención, nuestros estudiantes necesitaban participar en una semana de bienestar escolar. La nuestra fue esta semana. ¡Cada aula debía tratar de encontrar al menos un día para caminar alrededor de la cuadra! Sala 7 quería hacerlo todos los días esta semana! ¡Hasta ahora, hemos caminado tres días seguidos! Sólo mañana para ir !! Los informes de mediados del trimestre se enviarán a casa el martes 30 de abril. Pídale a su hijo que vea el suyo. Noticias de la biblioteca escolar: La Feria de Libros GRANDE será del 13 al 16 de mayo de este año. Los libros de la biblioteca que están prestados deben devolverse a partir del 20 de mayo (o antes). La última semana para retirar libros será la semana del 6 de mayo. Revise en su casa los libros de la biblioteca de la escuela que puedan devolverse. (Si ve uno de los libros de la biblioteca de mi salón de clases en su casa, ¡devuélvalo pronto también!) Preguntas para la semana: ¿Cuántas veces caminaste alrededor de la cuadra con un maestro en la escuela esta semana? ¿Qué canciones estás aprendiendo y practicando para tu grabadora en la clase de música? ¿Por qué mirabas criaturas vivas en la clase de ciencias de la Sra. Etter? ¿Pudiste tocar alguno de ellos? ¿Cuál fue tu actividad favorita para el Día de la Tierra en la escuela? ¿Necesitamos devolver la hoja de permiso de la Catedral o la hoja de almuerzo del Día del Servicio?
