I am so proud of the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. They worked on some challenging material, and we saw growth in their state WyTopp scores. The 6th grade class increased their reading scores by over 30 points. 7th and 8th grade class averages were in the proficient range, and the 7th graders outperformed the State of Wyoming average by 9 points. Presentations – EVERY student completed their end of year presentation. Some of the students knocked it out of the park with their research and preparedness. We will continue to work on these important life skills into next year! Thank you parents, family, and friends for taking time out of your busy day to come watch your students share their research.

Visit the local library, and encourage your child to read daily! Require your child to read before they get any screen time. Find ways to make reading enjoyable – read together, read outside, use an audio option, etc. This is a great FREE website for vocabulary practice: www.freerice.com – they can pick more challenging levels. I suggest level 3 and beyond. If your child struggles with vocabulary, start them at the beginning. Students LOVE this! For every answer they get correct, they are donating rice to help the hungry. 5. Get out of the house! Learning outside of the classroom is so much fun. Try some of our local museums. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the Riverton R-Rec Summer Academy, you should! There are some cool opportunities and it’s free! 6. Bake and cook using recipes. This encourages your child to read directions, follow these directions, and create something they can be proud of, plus build life skills. 7. Have fun! Create memories! Thank you for letting me be a part of your child’s life. Teaching these awesome middle school kids has made my year special. I have seen some growth and maturity in some of these young individuals, and their drive to reach their goals is powerful to watch. I look forward to challenging these rock stars in understanding their full potential. See you in the upcoming school year! Mrs. Remacle
Dear Families, Big changes are coming to the Box Tops for Education Program, and you’re the first to know! Over the summer, you'll begin to see some participating brands change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. NO MORE CLIPPING SEE THIS...

Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team is hard at work building a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app that will be ready this summer. The new app will feature state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online. WHEN THE NEW APP LAUNCHES, BE SURE TO DOWNLOAD IT OR UPDATE YOUR EXISTING APP:
As we mentioned above, some brands have already started to update their packaging in advance. Until the new app launches, if you see the new Box Tops label on packages, you can use the current Box Tops Bonus App to earn Box Tops for that product. Simply download the app, select the bonus offer for the product you've purchased and scan your receipt to earn. If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, be sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, once the new app launches, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping the traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products. Thanks for helping our school get what it needs!

School Protein Enhancement Project Wind River/Crowheart Schools’ lunch program is seeking donations of beef, pork and lamb to enhance the school lunch program. The program is designed to introduce schoolaged children to local producers by consuming locally raised meats. How it works: • Federal guidelines and Wyoming Department of Education policy requires that meat for consumption through the school lunch program be processed at a USDA approved processor. The local processor is Wyoming Custom Meats in Hudson, Wyoming. The Process: • Producers may donate beef, pork and/or lamb. • Please contact Linda Evans in the Business Office if you are interested in donating at 856-7970, extension 304. • The school will have cut lists on file with Wyoming Custom Meats. • The district would prefer that the producer drop the animal off at Wyoming Custom Meats for processing, but please notify us if this is not an option and we can see if other arrangements can be made. • Producers who donate the meat will be advertised on the school website and in the schools. What type of beef and pork can be donated? BEEF Market steers (1000 to 1500 lbs.) and Open heifers (less than two years old) • Both will be processed for ground beef, roasts, and select cuts. • The ground beef will be used for hamburgers and hamburger-based recipes. • The roasts will be used for shredded beef recipes and special school functions. • The select cuts will be used for special school functions, dinner events, and extracurricular events. Cull cows and Cull bulls • Will be processed into ground beef/patties PORK Market hogs (225 to 300 lbs) • Market hogs will be processed for bacon, sausage, ham, and select cuts. • The bacon and sausage will be primarily used for school breakfast and other bacon- and sausage-based lunch recipes. • The ham will be used for sandwiches, ham and beans, and special school functions. • The select cuts will be used for special school functions, dinner events, and extracurricular events. Cull sows and Cull boars • Will be processed into ground sausage LAMB Lamb and cull lambs will be processed into ground meat.
