We’ve got the power...Game On!!
Dear Families, By now, your child is back on a regular schedule, reconnecting with friends, understanding procedures and getting to know their teachers. We are proud of how hard our students are working to grow forward. Our charge this year is to grow forward...no one goes backwards! We know that it takes a partnership to help our students excel in all areas and we are proud to have the most awesome families to work alongside us at Cooper Elementary. Communication is very important to us at CES and our teachers have set up some form of communication with you whether it be Remind, ClassTag or Dojo. Also, please remember to check our website, cooperisd.net and click on the “schools” tab to see upcoming events at the Elementary campus. Please follow us on Twitter @cooperisd or “like” us on Facebook-Cooper ISD. We will do call-outs for special occasions and will notify you by paper when necessary. We would love for you to join CES PTO to get more involved. Your child’s timely arrival at school is important so that instructional activities can begin promptly. As always, good attendance is imperative in order for your child to gain the proper skills needed to demonstrate growth. Not only could poor attendance have a negative impact on a student’s ability to learn, but it keeps them from getting to participate in fun activities such as Bulldog Bash and University House Activities. PTO News To help stop the spread of illness in our school, please remember the 24 hour rule. Your child may return to school when: Vomiting or Diarrhea - Fever or Diarrhea free for 24 hours Flu symptoms – Temperature returned to normal for 24 hours. Undiagnosed fever or rash – Symptom free for 24 hours. Strep Throat – 24 hours after start of treatment. Pinkeye – Treated with antibiotics for 24 hours. Head Lice – Head is treated and free of live lice or eggs.
*Otherwise they are still contagious.*
Celebration Days will be held on the listed dates in the cafeteria. We will have a brief grade-level recognition ceremony where student’s names will be called. Students will line up on the stage and receive a round of applause and a high five from their teacher.

The Gifted & Talented program is for the students who:
Learn quickly, display creativity
Have a vivid imagination
Ask multitudes of questions
Have high interest levels
Use critical thinking skills
Teachers and parents may nominate a child in 1st through 5th grade for Gifted & Talented testing. Nominations must be made in writing or by email to Mrs. Burnette by September 20th.
The Food 4 Kids Backpack program provides children a backpack filled with nutritious food to be taken home on the weekends when school meals are not available. Children can be enrolled by their teacher, school counselor or at the request of their parent/guardian.

We would like to welcome all interested parents, grandparents and friends to join PTO! Come to our monthly meetings!
Box Tops for Education will be making a digital transition this year. They now have an app that you can download to scan your grocery receipts and collect Box Tops without all the cutting and collecting. However, if you have unexpired Box Tops we will still be able to turn those in. You may have your student bring them in a Ziploc or on a Box Tops Collection sheet with their name and grade level. Our school receives $0.10 for each Box Top and we have two turn in dates for the year, November and March.

PTO News Para ayudar a detener la propagación de enfermedades en nuestra escuela, recuerde la regla de las 24 horas. Su hijo puede regresar a escuela cuando:
Vómitos o diarrea: fiebre o diarrea libres por 24 horas Síntomas de la gripe: la temperatura volvió a la normalidad durante 24 horas Fiebre o erupción cutánea no diagnosticada: sin síntomas durante 24 horas Faringitis estreptocócica: 24 horas después del inicio del tratamiento. Pinkeye: tratado con antibióticos durante 24 horas. Piojos de la cabeza: la cabeza está tratada y no contiene piojos ni huevos vivos.

Se celebrarán días de celebración en las fechas indicadas en el cafetería. Tendremos un breve ceremonia de reconocimiento de nivel de grado donde se llamarán los nombres de los estudiantes. Los estudiantes se alinearán en el escenario y recibirán una ronda de aplausos y cinco de su maestro.

Box Tops for Education realizará una transición digital este año.
