We were blessed last month to have our brother, Evangelist Tony Suarez with us for a three day revival. One of his sermons focused on having faith and trust in God to the point of praising him not only during the good times but also during the difficult times. The 2nd book of Samuel chapter 12, tells the story of David praising and worshiping God after hearing the news that his son had died. Every Christian suffers defeats in his or her walk with Christ. Some of those defeats are major, some even catastrophic. However, the bible teaches over and over that we are to praise God no matter what the circumstances, for He abides in the praises of His people. If things are going well, praise God! If things are difficult, praise God! If things are horrendous, praise God! Being able to praise and thank God no matter what the circumstances is a true measure of faith and trust in God. Genuine trust in God means that no matter what happens we have the confidence that it is God's will and that it is happening for His purpose. With that assurance we have no fear, we have no regret, we have no anxiety. All we have is the peace and tranquility that can only come when we truly trust in God. After David lost his son God gave him another son who went on to be the richest, wisest king the world has ever known. We know him as King Solomon. Having enough faith and trust in God to be able to praise and thank Him no matter what the circumstances is something for which every Christian strives. Those who achieve it are truly blessed as Jeremiah proclaims in the passage above.

Why We Celebrate September of 2014 marks the 40 year anniversary of the opening of the first primary and secondary school in the history of the Apostolic Assembly. It was founded by our own Bishop, Adam Lopez Jr. It opened under the name, Apostolic Faith Academy, AFA. The school was temporarily September 27, 2014 closed in 1987 during construction of the new building. Following the example established here in Union City many other churches in the Assembly opened schools of their own, some using the same AFA name. Hence, when the school reopened in 1994, it choose the current name, Union City Christian Academy, UCCA. For me, the school was a God sent miracle. I was in High School when it opened. I lived in Oakland and took an AC Transit bus to Fremont High every day. That bus and school were plagued with fights, robberies and drug use. I was a recent convert and going to school was a daily challenge to avoid the gangs, fights, drugs and bullies all while trying to protect my spiritual life. My attendance and grades were horrendous and I had reached the stage where I didn't really see the point of going at all. AFA changed all of that. Now going to school went from a nightmare that I tried to avoid to an exciting adventure that I looked forward to every day! I no longer had to protect my spiritual life now I could actually build on it. Most of the neighboring Apostolic Churches sent their kids to this school and many others came from the Central Valley, the Salinas valley and Southern California. Some lived on Campus in old Sunday school rooms and others lived with relatives. These were God fearing Holy Ghost filled young people. These were not people that I had to try to avoid; these were people I could worship and pray with every day, some of whom ended up becoming some of my life long best friends! That first year my dad bought me a 1973 Dodge Van that was designed to seat 8 adults. When I left my house in Oakland at 7:30 every day we started with five passengers, me and my four brothers. By the time we arrived at school there were nineteen squeezed into that van! I had my own route and was a 16 year old school bus driver! I have many fond memories from that era; bible studies, devotional services, sports, field trips and choir tours to name a few. However, the most valuable thing I got from this school was a strong Christian upbringing. That followed me all the days of my life and is the most precious thing I’ve ever received! But there are hundreds of other former students who have benefited from this school as much, if not more, than I have. There are many who went on to be ministers, evangelists and pastors. This school is truly a gem that continues to shape the lives of our precious children. We invite you to join us as we celebrate it’s forty year anniversary, Saturday, September 27th at the Fremont Double Tree Hotel, (formerly the Fremont Hilton). I've been a member of Union City Apostolic Church since 1975 and I've never missed out on any of our women’s activities that we've had in our church. From End Time Restoration– Renewing My Spirit– to the many activities that have been held in our local church that relate to us women. Let me tell you, its all been worth it! I believe that everything I've learn from all of these activities prepared me for what I had to face in 2007 when my faith was tested and tried because of Breast Cancer. Oh yes it was tough! A time to receive a blessing, to be a blessing and to do what we do best here at Union City Apostolic Church and that is to bless the Lord! Donations and volunteers are needed in order for these events to be successful! Ha sido una buena publicación que todos aman y estamos muy contentos de tener. Fuimos bendecidos el mes pasado de tener a nuestro hermano, Evangelista Tony Suarez con nosotros unos días. Uno de sus sermones se enfoco en tener fe y confianza en Dios hasta el punto de alabarlo, no sólo durante los buenos tiempos, sino también durante los tiempos difíciles. El segundo libro de Samuel capítulo 12, cuenta la historia de David alabando y adorando a Dios después de escuchar la noticia de que su hijo había muerto. Todo cristiano sufre derrotas en su camino con Cristo. Algunas de esas derrotas son mayores, algunas son catastróficas. Sin embargo, la Biblia enseña que debemos a alabar a Dios, no importa cuáles sean las circunstancias, porque Él permanece en las alabanzas de su pueblo. Si las cosas van bien, alaba a Dios! Si las cosas son difíciles, alaba a Dios! Si las cosas son horrendas, alaba a Dios! El ser capaz de alabar y dar gracias a Dios, no importa cuáles sean las circunstancias, es una verdadera medida de nuestra fe y confianza en Dios. La confianza auténtica en Dios significa que no importa lo que suceda tenemos la confianza de que es la voluntad de Dios y que está pasando por un propósito. Con esa seguridad no tenemos miedo, no tenemos ningún arrepentimiento, no tenemos ansiedad. Todo lo que tenemos es el de la paz y la tranquilidad que sólo puede venir cuando verdaderamente confiamos en Dios. Después de que David perdió a su hijo, Dios le dio otro hijo que vino a ser el rey más rico y más sabio que el mundo haya conocido. Lo conocemos como el Rey Salomón. Tener suficiente fe y confianza en Dios para poder alabar y agradecerle no importa cuáles sean las circunstancias es algo por lo que se esfuerza cada cristiano. Aquellos que lo logran son verdaderamente bendecidos como Jeremías proclama en el pasaje arriba.

Por qué celebramos Septiembre de 2014 marca los 40 años de aniversario de la apertura de la primera escuela primaria y secundaria en la historia de la Asamblea Apostólica. Fue fundada por nuestro Obispo, Adam Lopez Jr. Se inauguró con el nombre, Apostolic Faith Academy, AFA. La escuela fue cerrada temporalmente en 1987 durante la construcción del nuevo edificio. Siguiendo el ejemplo establecido aquí en Union City muchas otras Septiembre 27, 2014 iglesias de la Asamblea abrieron escuelas propias, algunos utilizando el mismo nombre de AFA. Por lo tanto, cuando la escuela volvió a abrir en 1994, se elige el nombre actual, Union City Christian Academy, UCCA. Para mí, la escuela era un milagro enviado de Dios. Yo estaba en la escuela secundaria cuando se abrió. Yo vivía en Oakland y tomé AC Transit a Fremont High cada día. Ese autobús y la escuela estaban plagados de peleas, robos y uso de drogas. Yo era un cristiano recién convertido a ir a la escuela era un reto diario para evitar las pandillas, peleas, y drogas a la vez tratando de proteger mi vida espiritual. Mi asistencia y calificaciones eran terribles y yo había llegado al punto en que realmente no miré el punto de ir en absoluto. AFA cambió todo eso. Ahora ir a la escuela pasó de una pesadilla que trataba de evitar a una emocionante aventura que tenía ganas de asistir todos los días! Ya no tenía que proteger mi vida espiritual ahora yo podía construir sobre ella. La mayoría de las Iglesias Apostólicas vecinas enviaron a sus hijos a esta escuela y muchos otros llegaron desde el Valle Central, el valle de Salinas y el sur de California. Algunos vivían en el campus en las antiguas habitaciones de la escuela dominical y otros vivían con parientes. Estos eran jóvenes llenos del Espíritu Santo . No eran personas que yo trataba de evitar; si no eran personas que podía adorar y orar a Dios con ellos. Ultimadamente llegaron a ser unos de mis mejores amigos en mi vida! Mi padre me compró un 1973 Dodge Van, que fue diseñada para acomodar a 8 adultos. Cuando salía de mi casa en Oakland alrededor de las 7:30 todos los días había cinco que ivan, yo y mis cuatro hermanos. Cuando llegamos a la escuela una hora más tarde había diecinueve apretados dentro de la van! Yo era un conductor de autobús de la vieja escuela cuando tenia 16 años! Tengo tantos buenos recuerdos de esa época; servicios devocionales, equipos deportivos, excursiones y giras del coro, por nombrar sólo algunos. Sin embargo, lo más valioso que tengo de esta escuela era una sólida educación cristiana. Eso me siguió durante toda mi vida y es más valioso que cualquier cosa que he obtenido. Pero hay cientos de otros ex alumnos que se han beneficiado de esta escuela tanto o más que yo. Hay muchos que han pasado a ser ministros, evangelistas y pastores. Esta escuela es una verdadera joya que continúa dando forma a la vida de nuestro hijos preciosos.
