The imperfect tense: other uses (continued) • The imperfect tense is also used to tell how a person was feeling when something happened. Anoche me acosté temprano porque tenía sueño. Last night I went to bed early because I was sleepy. C. In each sentence, underline the preterite verb, which tells what action took place. Then, complete the sentence with the imperfect form of the verb in parentheses to tell how the people were feeling. The first one is done for you.
