~ REFLECTION ~

After more than three months of Lent and Easter, we return today to Sundays in Ordinary Time. We will be hearing from the Gospel of Saint Matthew for the rest of the year, with the first reading intended to prepare us in some way for the day’s Gospel. The second readings proceed through several of Saint Paul’s letters. As we settle down to summer living, these next few Sundays focus on what it is like to be a disciple. Let us pray to have hearts open to what the Lord is telling us

~ REFLEXION ~

Did You Know? Often, there are many

ways to solve a problem, and many possible solutions. If you teach your children to problem solve creatively, and think outside the box when they are faced with a challenge, this can help them formulate problem-solving skills that will serve them well throughout their lives. By using creative problem solving methods, parents and children can brainstorm new ideas to protect kids from stranger danger, abuse, violence, and the other risks present in the world. Discuss possible solutions and highlight common themes to help your children develop strategies for staying safe. Sabia Usted?

7 Marks of a Disciple

Mark 1. The first mark is that a disciple must share the message of the kingdom/gospel with others. Sharing the gospel focuses on the needs of others. Mark 2. The second mark is that a disciple must learn to trust God for his or her needs and circumstances. Under the most adverse circumstances, in the most severe trials, they believe that sovereignty has ordained their afflictions, that sovereignty overrules them, and that sovereignty will sanctify them. Mark 3. The third mark is that a disciple must be prepared to be rejected. The disciple must learn not to take personal offense at a rejection but rather see that is in fact God himself and His gospel message that is rejected. Mark 4. The fourth mark is that a disciple must place Christ above family relationships if need be. Our commitment to Jesus must exceed all, even that of our family. Mark 5. The fifth mark is that a disciple must fear God more than men. God is the ultimate judge; He will judge everyone and everything; Man’s judgment is temporal but God’s judgment is eternal. Mark 6. A sixth mark is that a disciple must lose his old life and find his new life in Jesus. A disciple must be willing to die to the old life and live a new life that God has for him. Mark 7. Lastly, a seventh mark is that a disciple must look to the future reward reserved in heaven. In essence God gives us the promise that being a disciple will be worth it in the end.
