CONFERENCE EMCEE Sharon Perkins

Sharon Kapavik Perkins, EMCEE, a Texas native, calls herself a “cradle Catholic immersed in the New Evangelization.” She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Theology from the University of Dallas and is a doctoral candidate in Theology from the University of Dayton pending her dissertation focusing on Mariology and American Catholic History. For almost 40 years she has also worked professionally in the ministry of adult and children’s faith formation and as a published writer, speaker, course instructor and retreat leader in the dioceses of Dallas, Fort Worth, Cincinnati and Austin. A recent Director of Evangelization and Catechesis for the Diocese of Austin, Sharon currently lives in Austin with her husband of 41 years (Mike), has three grown children, and loves cooking and sharing Czech cuisine and cold Shiner beer. Cameron Fradd, KEYNOTE, is the founder and host of the popular podcast Among the Lilies where she speaks weekly to a growing community of women about being real and beautifully raw. Cameron also hosts a Facebook group with thousands of members for Among the Lilies where women can ask questions, request prayers, and receive support from like-minded women. In addition, Cameron and her husband Matt Fradd co-authored the book Restored: True Stories of Love and Lust After Porn. While Cameron is passionate about helping women discover their identity as beloved daughters of God through her podcast, social media, and speaking, she spends most of her time raising four energetic and beautiful children in Georgia, where she lives with her husband.

Very Rev. James Misko, MASS CELEBRANT, was ordained a priest by Bishop Greg Aymond on June 9, 2007. He has served as pastor of Christ the King Parish in Belton and as associate pastor of St. Elizabeth Parish in Pflugerville. Father Misko is a member of the College of Consultors, and he has served on the Presbyteral Council since 2011. He also currently serves as the chair of the Priest Advisory Council for the Encountering Christ Capital Campaign. Bishop Joe Vásquez appointed Father James Misko as Vicar General of the Diocese of Austin, effective Jan. 21, 2019.

Christina Dehan Jaloway is a thirty-something wife, new mother and freelance writer, speaker, and former high school theology teacher. Through her blogs at theEvangelista.com, she shares her love of the Catholic faith, her experience as a single woman for the entirety of her twenties, and her personal journey to healing through therapy, prayer, and the love of others.

Dr. Judy Knotts’ professional career has centered on education as a consultant to schools, school head, and writer. She is interested in how human beings develop and become who they are. Dr. Knotts’ journey into the homeless world began when she was in her sixties and continues into her seventies. You Are My Brother is her third book.

Dokpe Ogunsanya

Dokpe Ogunsanya is the Founder/CEO of Dupsy Enterprises, a Consulting and Publishing Corporation. She is a motivational speaker, life coach, author, publisher, and adjunct faculty. She was awarded the 2016 Executive In Texas Government Woman of the Year. She is passionate about empowering and moving people forward in the direction they want to go! She lives in Austin with her husband and their daughter.

Rev. Jonathan Raia

Fr. Jonathan Raia, a native of Houston, was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Austin in 2009. Fr. Jonathan served four years as parochial vicar at St. William Parish in Round Rock, then for a year as parochial vicar at St. Mary’s Catholic Center at Texas A&M University, before beginning as Vocation Director for the Diocese of Austin in July 2014. He enjoys giving spiritual direction and teaching about the spiritual life.

Theresa Stephens is the Director of the Mercy of God Prayer Center, a lay Catholic Evangelistic and Healing ministry. She is a wife, mother of 3 and professional volunteer. She formerly served as the Pastoral Care and Social Outreach Coordinator at St Thomas More Parish in Austin. She is passionate about helping people grow spiritually by helping them identify and remove the blockages in their lives through evangelization and inner and physical healing prayer. Kathryn Whitaker is a sixth-generation Texan, Catholic author, blogger, speaker, and freelance graphic designer who shares what it’s like raising a raucous Catholic family on teamwhitaker.org. Whitaker has contributed to Blessed is She, Take Up and Read, ATX Catholic, and Hand to Hold’s preemie blog. She has appeared in USA Today, The Son Rise Morning Show, Relevant Radio, and is a regular guest on The Jennifer Fulwiler Show on SiriusXM.

Luisa de Poo

Luisa de Poo was born in Mexico City and raised in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mx. She is a Licensed Clinical Psichologist, and holds a master’s degree in Theology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. She serves as the Associate Director for Pro-life Activities in the Diocese of Austin whose priorities include helping parishes create a culture of life in their communities. In December of 2018, she was appointed as a consultant to the USCCB committee on Pro-Life activities. The most important part of her life, and her vocation, is being a mother and a wife.

Luisa de Poo nació en la Ciudad de México y creció en Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mx. Ella es Psicóloga y tiene su maestría en Teología de la Universidad de St. Mary’s en San Antonio. Luisa es la Directora Asociada de Actividades Pro-Vida en la Diócesis de Austin, cuyas prioridades incluyen ayudar a parroquias a crear una cultura por la vida en sus comunidades. En Diciembre del 2018, fue nombrada como consultora del comittee de USCCB en actividades Pro-vida. La parte más importante de su vida, y su vocación, es el ser mamá y esposa.

Crescencia Alvarado

Crescencia Alvarado has over 20 years of experience as a CHW, advocate, and instructor of CHWs. Ms. Alvarado founded the organization, Promotoras Community Health Workers Association of Travis County and is now part of the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention (CDIP) program at Austin Public Health (APH). She continues to be active in the community by being a member of Board of Directors of People’s Community Clinic, participates in the Pastoral Advisory Committee Diocese of Austin, committee team member for Diocese of Austin for the V Encuentro, participates as a delegate for the local regional and National V Encuentro, and is a 2019 Diversity Outreach Initiative Scholarship recipient.

Crescencia Alvarado tiene más de 20 años de experiencia como Promotora de Salud, mediadora e instructora de talleres de capacitación y educación continua para los promotores de Salud. Crescencia es la fundadora de la Asociacion de Promotores de Salud en el condado de Travis, y es parte del programa para la prevención de enfermedades cronicas y lesiones del Departamento de Salud Publica en Austin.Ella continua estando activa en su comunidad al ser parte de la Mesa Directiva de People’s Community Clinic, Comité de Asesoramiento Pastoral, parte del equipo Diocesano del V (Quinto) Encuentro, y fue galardonada por la Iniciativa del Alcanze a la Diversidad de la Conferencia Episcopal de los Estados Unidos.

Sr. Lucero Espitia

Hrna. Lucero Espitia nació en la Ciudad de Aguascalientes, México. Es la Mayor de Cuatro hermanos y a los 16 años descubrió la llamada de Dios a la vida religiosa, pero fue hasta los 21 años, cuando ingresó a la Comunidad Religiosa Mexicana Discípulas de Jesus, profesando votos temporales por primera vez el 2 de Enero de 2017. Actualmente cursa su sexto año de formación en el Juniorado Mayor. Hrna. Lucero forma parte del equipo de servicio en los Estados Unidos en la Parroquia de Sagrado Corazón en Austin como asistente de Catequésis y la asesora del grupo de oración. Su mayor pasión y deseo es que el amor de Dios pueda ser conocido, para ser amado y servido, especialmente en la formación, crecimiento y sanación de servidores y mujeres. “DAD GLORIA AL SEÑOR AHORA Y POR SIEMPRE”.

Sr. Lucero Espitia was born in Aguascalientes, México. She’s the oldest of four siblings, and at the age of 16 she realized her call to religious life. However, it was not until she was 21 that she entered the Mexican Religious Community, Discipulas de Jesus, professing her temporary vows on Jan. 2, 2017. Presently, she is on her sixth year of formation, and is part of a team serving in the United States at Sacred Heart Parish in Austin. Sr. Lucero is a Catechist Aide, and an advisor for the prayer group. Her greatest passion and desire is for others to experience the love of God, to love and serve Him, especially those in leadership positions and women. “GIVE GOD THE GLORY, NOW AND FOREVER”.
