September 2019 As principal of Gilmer Elementary, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year! We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. Just a reminder that our instructional day starts at 7:45 am and doors will open at 7:20 am…please do your best to have students at school on time. Gilmer Elementary is SUPER excited to be continuing our color House System for Kindergarten thru 4th grade students this year. Every student Kindergarten thru 4th grade has been assigned a Color House. Students will attend PE and Specials with their Houses and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students will also eat lunch with their Houses. The House System was created to foster camaraderie, collaboration, and leadership among all students. Students across grade levels will participate in a variety of academic and community-building activities with their Houses. As the year progresses, Houses will attend House meetings where students will celebrate successes as a team. Each nine weeks, students will participate in a community service project with the winning House Color receiving a House Celebration!!! Gilmer Elementary PRIDE Fundraiser T-Shirt The first competition starts September 3 rd … We will place our first order for GES PRIDE t-shirts SOCKTOBER!!! Wednesday, Sept. 11th. You may send cash or check to school with your child. Please indicate size, It’s time for our first Color House quantity, student’s name, and Competition!!! Let’s warm the people at The teacher’s name when sending Hi-Way 80 Mission by collecting warm new or money. We will send out another lightly used clean socks. Collections begin order form in late September before placing a second order Tues., Sept. 3rd and continues until Thurs., Oct. in early October. Order forms 31st. Students will earn their Color House a were sent home in your child’s point for every pair of sock they donate. Buckeye Folder last week. Donation boxes will be set-up in the gym!

***This is NOT your child’s Color House Shirt that comes with paying the school supply fee. This is simply a GES Fundraiser tshirt. Your child’s color house shirt will be given to them around the second week of September.

Gilmer Elementary Students can participate in GISD Homecoming by wearing BLACK, ORANGE, and WHITE to school on Friday!!! Students are also allowed to wear their mums and/or garters to school for Homecoming!

La Elemental de Gilmer esta muy emocionada de continuar el Systema de Colorcolor de Hogares para los grados Kinder a 4to. Todo estudiante de Kinder a 4to a sido asignado a un Hogar de Color, Estudiantes atenderán PE y especiales con sus hogares. Ademas 2do, 3ro y 4to grado tendran almuerzo con sus hogares. El sistema de hogares fue creado para fomenter camarería, colaboración y liderazgo entre estudiantes. Estudiantes de todos los grados participaran en una Camiseta PRIDE para Recaudar Fondos variedad de actividades academicas y Estaremos hacienda el primer pedido para la camiseta construcción comunitaria con sus hogares. de PRIDE el miercoles 11 de septiembre. Podrán enviar Con el progreso del año, los hogares efectivo o cheque a la escuela con su niño. Es hora de nuestra primera competencia de Hogares de Colores! Vamos a ayudar a las personas del Hi-Way 80 Mission a mantenerse calientes este invierno recolectando medias calidas ya sean nuevas o usadas. Recolección comenzara el Martes 3 Septiembre hasta el Jueves 31 Octubre. Los estudiantes ganaran un punto para su Hogar por cada par de medias que donen. Cajas de Donación estarán en el Gym.
