September 1, 2009 Dear Euro-Community: We would like to inform you of the steps we are taking to keep our Euro-families healthy. We will ask your cooperation to insure that we are successful in our efforts. Here are the procedures that we have in place for students sent home from school: • • • • • •

Teacher observes student has one or more of the following symptoms: cough, runny nose, fever, sore throat, achy body. Teacher sends student to the clinic where the nurse will make a superficial diagnosis. The nurse will call home and advise the parent or guardian that their child is ill and must see a doctor, if flu symptoms are present. All brothers and sisters will be sent home as well to be checked by a doctor to eliminate the possibility of the flu. All students sent home may return to school after any required treatment and must come in with a doctor's note. The student must take the note to the reception desk and s/he will receive an admit slip to return to class (this is normal procedure after any absence). The homeroom teacher will not receive a student without an admit slip from the office.

We sincerely hope that you will not send your child or any brothers and sisters to school if one of them is sick, especially with flu symptoms. If your child is absent one or two days for another illness that is not flurelated, you may send him/her to school with a note from you. That note must be taken to the reception desk and an admit slip will be given to the student. If your child is absent for three or more days, s/he must return to school with a doctor's note describing the illness and that s/he now has a clean bill of health. The note must be taken to the reception desk where s/he will receive an admit slip to return to class. Remember that we will not penalize any student's grades due to illness. Please continue to check the school's website or Engrade for assignments in all classes so that your child(ren) doesn't fall behind in his/her studies while absent. 1 de septiembre del 2009 Estimada Comunidad del Euroamericano: Nos gustaría informarles del procedimiento a seguir para mantener la salud en nuestro colegio. Les pedimos su cooperación para asegurar el éxito en nuestra propuesta. A continuación presentamos los pasos a seguir con los estudiantes que sean enviados de regreso a casa: • • • • •

Si el maestro observa que el alumno tiene uno o más de los siguientes síntomas: tos, catarro, fiebre, dolor de garganta, dolor de cuerpo, mandará al alumno a la enfermería, donde la enfermera hará un diagnóstico superficial. Si la enfermera considera que el alumno tiene los síntomas de la influenza, llamará a casa para avisar a los papás que su hijo está enfermo y que necesita consultar a un médico. Todos los hermanos y hermanas del alumno enfermo serán mandados a casa también para ser revisados por un doctor y eliminar la posibilidad de estar contagiados de influenza. Los alumnos pueden regresar al colegio después del tratamiento con una nota de su doctor. El alumno deberá llevar esta nota del doctor al área de recepción y a cambio, recibirá un pase de admisión para entrar de nuevo a clases (este pase es el procedimiento normal para cualquier ausencia). El maestro titular del salón de clases no recibirá a ningún estudiante que estuvo ausente sin el pase de admisión.

Sinceramente, esperamos que no envíen a sus hijos a clases si uno de ellos está enfermo con los síntomas de la influenza. Si su hijo está ausente por uno o dos días por alguna otra enfermedad que no esté relacionada con la influenza, él o ella puede regresar a clases con una nota firmada por uno de sus padres. Esta nota la llevará el alumno a recepción para obtener el pase de admisión. Si su hijo está ausente por tres o más días, deberá traer una dictamen médica a su regreso a clases, describiendo la enfermedad y declarando que ya está aliviado. Esta nota se llevará al área de recepción para recibir el pase de admisión. Les recordamos que cuando un alumno está enfermo, no serán afectadas sus calificaciones.
