GOVERNING BOARD CANDIDATE STATEMENT AMPHITHEATER UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 10
Scott Baker
My name is Scott Baker, and I am running for the Amphitheater School District Governing Board. I have a long history in the Amphitheater School District. My wife, Windy, and I met when we were students at Amphitheater High School. Soon after the oldest of our three children was school age, we bought a home in the district so our children could attend Amphi schools. My children came to school with differing needs to be successful, but through the combination of a challenging and diverse curriculum delivered by high quality teachers, staff, and administrators, all three are now proud graduates of the Amphitheater District. I am proud of the district, and I want to give my time and talent back to the district to ensure current and future students will have the same opportunities as my own children. I will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Amphitheater Governing Board. I am an educator myself, having taught for 30 years in a neighboring school district. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to teach multiple subject areas and grade levels, work with teachers as a member of the district’s Career Ladder Program to provide support to improve student achievement, help to develop and implement a revised physical education and health curriculum, support teachers new to the profession as a building level mentor, and have held and continue to hold numerous leadership roles to benefit the students, teachers, and families in the district in which I work. In 2005 I earned my PhD in Teaching and Teacher Education from the University of Arizona as the result of the research and work I did focusing on curriculum, instruction, and assessment. I respectfully ask for your vote on November 8th. A vote for Scott Baker to the Amphitheater School Board is a vote for children. It is a vote for parents. It is a vote for teachers. It is a vote for experience.

Mi nombre es Scott Baker y me presento como candidato para la Junta de Gobierno del Distrito Escolar de Amphitheater. Tengo un largo historial en el Distrito Escolar de Amphitheater. Mi esposa, Windy, y yo nos conocimos cuando éramos estudiantes en la escuela de preparatoria de Amphitheater. Poco tiempo después de que nuestro hijo mayor alcanzó la edad escolar, compramos una casa en el distrito para que nuestros hijos pudieran asistir a las escuelas de Amphi. Mis hijos fueron a la escuela con diferentes necesidades para tener éxito, pero a través de la combinación de un plan de estudios retador y variado, proporcionado por maestros/as, personal y administradores de alta calidad, todos los tres son ahora orgullosos graduados del Distrito de Amphitheater. Estoy orgulloso del distrito, y quiero proporcionar mi tiempo y talento al distrito para asegurar que los actuales y futuros estudiantes tengan las mismas oportunidades que mis propios hijos. Traeré una gran cantidad de conocimiento y experiencia a la Junta de Gobierno de Amphitheater. Yo mismo soy un educador, habiendo enseñado durante 30 años en un distrito escolar vecino. En el 2005 obtuve un PhD en Enseñanza y Educación de Maestro en la Universidad de Arizona como resultado de la investigación y trabajo que hice enfocado en planes de estudios, instrucción y evaluación. Respetuosamente les pido su voto el 8 de noviembre. Un voto a favor de Scott Baker para la Junta Escolar de Amphitheater es un voto a favor de los niños. Es un voto a favor de los padres.
