Preparing for Baptism and Membership Your Personal Testimony Thank you for your interest in pursuing baptism/membership at First Bilingual Baptist Church. It is exciting for us to see the work Christ is doing in your life and in our church. The next step in the process is that you prepare a written testimony to be read in front of the congregation on the day of your baptism/membership presentation. Although speaking in front of the congregation can be a scary thing for many people, we believe it will make our church healthier and stronger. We also want to help walk you through it every step of the way. Affirming and receiving a new brother or sister in the faith is supposed to be a time marked by joy and unity in Christ, and we want to do what we can to maintain that spirit for everyone. As you prepare your personal testimony, don’t worry about “saying the right thing.” Instead, your focus should be on faithfully and humbly sharing the truth from your heart with the congregation. Presenting your personal testimony is an opportunity… 1. For the church to get to know you a little more personally. Tell us a little bit about your family, upbringing, and current life circumstances. 2. For the church to be encouraged and praise God for the unique ways He has worked in your life. Share how God used people, circumstances, and His truth to bring about or strengthen your faith. 3. For you to practice sharing your faith with others. If you have non-believing friends and family attending your baptism, this is a chance to proclaim the truth of Jesus to them and encourage the congregation in evangelism. 4. For the church to hear you publicly profess your faith and your commitment to Christ and His church. Don’t feel bad about taking words right out the Bible or our Membership Covenant. Our entire congregation needs to be reminded about our commitment. 5. For the church to learn how we can best serve and pray for you. You don’t need to be too specific, but help the congregation be encouraged that they are not alone in life’s difficulties. Your testimony does not need to be very lengthy—just enough to help accomplish the 5 goals listed above. To help you prepare this written testimony, the church will assign a current member to work with you on preparing this testimony. Once you two have finalized what you intend to present at your baptism/membership, please let the church office know, and we will schedule a date for your baptism/membership.

Es muy emocionante ver el trabajo que Cristo está haciendo en su vida y en nuestra iglesia. El siguiente paso en el proceso es que usted prepare un testimonio escrito para leer delante de la congregación el día de su bautismo/membresía.
