Eucharistic Prayer of the Migrant

En verdad es digno y justo que por siempre te alabemos y te demos gracias, Padre bueno, porque creaste los cielos con tu amor poderoso, y con cariño nos diste la tierra como madre nutricia para ser nuestra cuna, nuestro hogar y nuestra sepultura. La adornaste con llanos y cordilleras, con volcanes, con ríos caudalosos, con islas acariciantes, con selvas frondosas y con desiertos desolados.

It is truly worthy and right that we always praise you and give you thanks, good Father, for you created the heavens with your mighty love, and with love you gave us the earth as a nurturing mother to be our birthplace, our home and our grave. You adorned it with plains and mountain ranges, with volcanoes and rivers, with pleasant islands, with lush forests and desolate deserts.

Pero nosotros caímos en pecado y te dimos la espalda. Nos apropiamos de lo que era tuyo y le pusimos un cilicio de alambradas; nos volvimos unos contra otros e hicimos del paraíso que nos encomendaste un infierno de dolor y de miseria. Millones de tus hijos se vieron obligados a buscar su esperanza en tierra extraña.

But we fell into sin and turned our backs on you. We appropriated what was yours and surrounded it with barbed-wire fences, we turned against one other and made the paradise with which you entrusted us a hell of pain and misery. Millions of your children were forced to seek hope in strange lands.

Pero tú no abandonaste a quienes te abandonaron. Nos perdonas como Padre y nos esperas con cariño de Madre.

But you did not abandon those who abandoned you. You’ve forgiven us as a Father and await us with the gentle love of a Mother.

En la plenitud de los tiempos nos enviaste a tu propio Hijo que emigró de los cielos a la tierra, y el que estaba en comunión contigo se hizo solidario con nosotros.

In the fullness of time you sent your own Son who emigrated from heaven to earth, and he who was in communion with you made himself one with us.

Por tanto te alabamos con los ángeles y arcángeles, con todos nuestros antepasados y con todos los que gozan ahora lo que nosotros esperamos, que te aclaman sin cesar:

Therefore we praise you with angels and archangels, with all who have come before us and all those who now rejoice in this our unending hymn:

Santo, Santo, Santo es el Señor, Dios del Universo. Llenos están los cielos y la tierra de tu gloria. ¡Hosanna en el cielo!

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of the Universe. Heavens and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest!

¡Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor! ¡Hosanna en el cielo!

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!

Tú Hijo Jesucristo nuestro hermano, emigrante de los cielos y modelo de emigrantes, trabajo la madera con sus manos duras, y se hizo pobre con nosotros para hacernos ricos de tu gracia.

Your Son Jesus Christ our brother, an emigrant from the heavens and an example for all migrants, worked wood with his strong hands, and became poor as one of us, that we might be filled with the richness of your grace.

Transitó los caminos polvorientos para anunciar tu Palabra, para proclamar el perdón y la amnistía, para anunciar a los pobres la buena noticia de su liberación.

He traveled the dusty roads to herald your Word, to proclaim forgiveness and amnesty, to announce to the poor the good news of their liberation.

La noche en que lavo los pies a sus amigos, la misma noche en que le traicionaron y le entregaron a la tortura, nuestro Señor y Compañero Jesús tomó el pan en sus santas manos, elevó los ojos al cielo, dijo sobre el pan la bendición, lo partió y repartió a sus amigos con estas divinas palabras:

In the night he washed the feet of his friends, the same night in which he was betrayed and handed him over to torture, our Lord and Companion Jesus took bread into His holy hands, raised his eyes to heaven, said the blessing over the bread , broke it and gave it to his friends with these divine words:

Tomen y coman todo de él, porque esto es mi cuerpo entregado por ustedes Hagan esto como memorial mío.

Take and eat all of it, for this is my body given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Después de la cena tomó el cáliz en sus santas manos, elevó los ojos a ti, Padre en los cielos, dijo sobre él la bendición, y lo entrego a sus amigos con estas divinas palabras:

After supper he took the cup in his holy hands, raised his eyes to you, Father in heaven, said the blessing, and gave it to his friends with these divine words:

Beban todos de este cáliz, porque esto es el cáliz de la nueva alianza en mi sangre: sangre derramada por ustedes y por toda la familia humana para el perdón de los pecados. Siempre que lo beban háganlo como memorial mío.

Drink of this cup all of you; as this is the cup of the new covenant in my blood: blood shed for you and the entire human family for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink of it, do this in remembrance of me.

Por tanto proclamamos el misterio de la fe:

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:

Cristo ha muerto para darnos vida. Cristo ha resucitado para hacernos libres. Cristo volverá para instaurar su Reino.

Christ died to give us life. Christ has risen to set us free. Christ will come again to establish his kingdom.

Padre bueno, en este memorial de la amnistía y el perdón celebramos el portento de tu amor y te ofrecemos este pan y este vino: envía sobre ellos el rocío de tu Espíritu Santo, y así serán para nosotros el cuerpo y la sangre de tu Hijo nuestro compañero, la comida y el refrigerio del pueblo peregrinante. Cólmanos de tu bendición para que seamos artesanos de tu justicia e instrumentos de tu paz en este mundo desgarrado.

Good Father, in this memorial of amnesty and forgiveness we celebrate the wonder of your love and we offer you this bread and this wine: pour out your Holy Spirit upon them to be for us the body and blood of your Son our companion, the food and refreshment of your pilgrim people. Fill us your blessing that we might be artisans of your justice and instruments of your peace in this broken world.

Congrega en la unidad de la fe, la esperanza y el amor a toda tu Iglesia esparcida por el orbe. Te pedimos por nuestros obispos y demás ministros: Que sean fieles heraldos de tú Palabra, agentes y portavoces de tu liberación.

Join together in unity of faith, hope and love your whole Church scattered throughout the world. We pray for our bishops and other ministers: That they might be faithful heralds of your Word, agents and spokespersons for that freedom found in you.

Ten compasión de los que sufren en soledad y desamparo.

Have mercy on those who suffer in loneliness and despair.

Salva a las víctimas del hambre, de la opresión, de la persecución a causa de la justicia, del terror de la guerra y de las torturas en las cárceles.

Save the victims of hunger, oppression, and persecution in the cause of justice; and the terror of war and torture in prison.

Haznos a todos partícipes de la esperanza de gloria, y llévanos algún día al gozo de tu Reino eterno para cantar por siempre tus alabanzas.

Let us all share in the hope of glory, and bring us one day to the joy of your eternal kingdom to sing your praises forever.

Por Cristo, con Cristo y en Cristo, en la unidad del Espíritu Santo, tuyos son el honor y la gloria, Padre omnipotente ahora y por siempre. AMÉN

Through Christ, with Christ and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit Yours are all honor and glory, Father Almighty now and forever. AMEN
