LITTLE EAGLE HINDMARSH ISLAND th

th

On April the 27 till 29 Wednesday the year 6-7s (F14 and 15) left on the bus to go to the Hindmarsh island Little Eagle camp site. It was a 1hour and 45minute drive from school. When we arrived at the camp we played a few games called finding Nemo and Bobsled. After we finished the games the instructors got us sorted into the dorm. I took a dorm behind the hall. It had six beds two bunks and two singles. On day one we went boogie boarding and raft making. I was in group A with Ms Martin and we did raft making first. My raft stayed afloat to the really end because the ropes started falling apart and everyone abandoned me and Charlie so we had to paddle back to the shore with the raft. After raft making we hopped on the bus headed for Goolwa beach for boogie boarding. When we got there we had to put on wet suites and take a board. When we got to the sand the instructor gave a safety talk and then sent us into the water. My favourite wave was when I caught one all the way into shore together with Hamish. On day two we did the GSO walk, water ecology, shelter making and fishing activities. All were very fun but my personal favourite was shelter making. Shelter making was the best because you had an hour to build a shelter to withstand a storm with only limmited resources. Ours went well. I think you needed about three hours to have a good, well covered shelter that’s succesfull and won't let water through on you. On the final day we left camp and went to the park for an event called the Aquathong. For the Aquathong we had to choose a team and make a chant. Our team was called Speedy Gonzas and during the chant Spencer rolled over Easwar's face. That was the highlight of camp. By Oskar Felusch F15
