Dear ECC Families, It’s already December! Our year is quickly approaching the half-way point. Now that we are having snowy and rainy weather, we encourage students to come to school in warm boots and change into a pair of dry slip-on shoes upon arrival. Please also spend some time practicing putting on and taking off boots and mittens and zippering up jackets with your child. All students benefit from feeling independent and successful at these daily tasks. Our Tuesday PTO meeting was well attended. The PTO officers gave an update of the hugely successful popcorn fundraiser. We are also asking for families to donate a small item for the baskets that will be raffled off during our Winter Concert on Monday, December 21st at 6 pm at John Mills School. In today’s mail we are also sending out the order form if you would like a DVD of the Winter Concert. Copies are $15 and will be delivered in January. The Elmwood Park Library has planned many holiday activities for the month including, movies, sing-a-longs and Santa letter writing. Stop by to register for some of these special programs and to check out some great reading material for the upcoming school break. Please be aware that this year’s winter break will begin on Thursday, December 24th. Our last day of school will be Wednesday, December 23rd. School will resume on Thursday January 7th. Mrs. Tara Egan Harris is very excited to be the Staff Star of the Week! This is her second year as the ECC social worker, and she has so enjoyed getting to know the students and families here. Before becoming a parent, Mrs. Harris worked at the Leyden Area Special Education Cooperative (LASEC), which includes Elmwood Park as one of its eleven districts, and she feels lucky to have worked within our community since 2010. Later this winter, Mrs. Harris, her husband, and their toddler, Lily, are looking forward to welcoming twin boys to their family. Our Kindergarten Stars of the Week are – Eduardo Reyes, Miajolene Martinez, Cyrus Lofton, Romeo Garcia, Ray Salas Jr., Daniel Mustabelli and Matthew Cygan. Our Prek Stars of the Week are- Joycelynn Reyes, Mikayla Schmitt, Abriella Rocha, Kaja Soja, Michael Reeves and Adriana Canedo.

Joanne Mourikes Rice, Directora 4 de Diciembre 2015 Estimadas familias del Centro ECC, Ya es diciembre! Nuestro año se acerca rápidamente a las vacaciones de invierno. Ahora que tenemos nieve y lluvia, animamos a los estudiantes a venir a la escuela con botas y ponerse un par de zapatos secos al llegar. Por favor, en la casa tratan de practicar por algún tiempo ponerse y quitarse las botas, los guantes y chaquetas con su hijo. Todos los estudiantes se benefician de sentirse independiente y exitosos en estas rutinas diarias. Nuestra reunión de PTO estuvo muy concurrida. Los oficiales del PTO dieron una actualización de la recaudación de fondos palomitas de gran éxito. También estamos pidiendo a las familias a donar un objeto pequeño para las cestas que se rifaron durante nuestro concierto de invierno el lunes 21 de diciembre a las 6 pm en la Escuela John Mills. En el correo de hoy también estamos enviando el formulario de pedido si desea un DVD del concierto de invierno. Las copias son de $ 15 y se entregarán en enero. La Biblioteca Publica de Elmwood Park ha planeado muchas actividades para el mes incluyendo películas, conciertos a coro y la escritura de cartas a San Nicolas. Pase por inscribirse en alguno de estos programas especiales y para prestar unos libros durante la vacaciones escolares. Tenga en cuenta que las vacaciones de invierno de este año comenzarán el jueves 24 de diciembre. Nuestro último día de clases será el miércoles 23 de diciembre. Clases se reanudará el jueves 7 de enero. La maestra Tara Egan Harris es muy emocionada de ser la Estrella de la Semana! Este es su segundo año como la trabajadora social ennuestra escuela, y ha disfrutado llegar a conocer a los estudiantes y familias aquí. Antes de tener una hja, la señora Harris trabajó en la Cooperativa Leyden Área de Educación Especial (LASEC), que incluye Elmwood Park como uno de sus once distritos, y se siente afortunada de haber trabajado dentro de nuestra comunidad desde 2010. A finales de este invierno, la señora Harris, su esposo y su niña, Lily, estaran danda la bienvenida a dos niños gemelos a su familia. Drodzy Rodzice, Rozpoczelismy juz miesiac grudzien! Rok szkolny zbliza sie szybko do polmetka. W zwiazku z jesienno-zimowa pogoda, ktora przynosi czesto snieg lub deszcz, zachecamy naszych uczniow do ubierania cieplych zimowych butow i zmieniania ich w szkole na suche, wygodne i latwo wkladajace sie obuwie. Panstwa zachecamy do cwiczenia w domu samodzielnego zdejmowania i zakladania obuwia, kurtek, czy szalikow. Samodzielnosc w wykonywaniu tych czynnosci doda dzieciom pewnosci siebie i pomoze rozpoczac dzien sukcesem. We wtorek odbylo sie kolejne spotkanie organizacji PTO. Czlonkowie PTO podzielili sie z licznie zebranymi biezacymi informacjami, a takze przedstawili raport z zakonczonej sukcesem sprzedazy popcornu. Prosimy wszystkich rodzicow o podarowanie niewielkiego upominku do wspolnego klasowego koszyka, ktory nastepnie bedzie do wylosowanie w czasie loterii fantowej w trakcie Koncertu Zimowego. Koncert bedzie mial miejsce w poniedzialek, 21 grudnia, o godzinie 6 wieczorem w szkole podstawowej John Mills School. W dniu dzisiejszym otrzymuja Panstwo forme zamowienia na DVD z koncertu. Nagranie kosztuje $15, a dostepne bedzie w miesiacu styczniu. Biblioteka publiczna w Elmwood Park zaplanowala na czas swiateczny wiele specjalnych zajec takich jak wspolne ogladanie filmu, wspolne spiewanie, czy pisanie listu do Mikolaja. Zachecamy Panstwa do odwiedzenia biblioteki i przy okazji wypozyczenia na czas przerwy zimowej wielu ksiazeczek do wspolnego czytania. Prosze pamietac, ze przerwa zimowa w tym roku rozpoczyna sie we czwartek, 24 grudnia. Ostatni dzien szkoly przed przerwa to sroda, 23 grudnia. Zajecia rozpoczna sie ponownie we czwartek, 7 stycznia. Gwiazdami Tygodnia w naszej szkole sa w tym tygodniu: w klasach zerowych - Eduardo Reyes, Miajolene Martinez, Cyrus Lofton, Romeo Garcia, Ray Salas Jr., Daniel Mustabelli i Matthew Cygan, a w klasach przedszkolnych: Joycelynn Reyes, Mikayla Schmitt, Abriella Rocha, Kaja Soja, Michael Reeves i Adriana Canedo. Wsrod nauczycieli szczesliwa Gwiazda Tygodnia jest pani Tara Egan Harris, nasz pracownik socjalny. Jest to jej drugi rok pracy w ECC, w czasie ktorego pani Egan Harris z radoscia poznaje naszych uczniow i ich rodziny. Przed urodzeniem jej pierwszego dziecka, pani Harris pracowala w Leyden Area Special Education Cooperative (LASEC). Dystrykt szkolny Elmwood Park jest jednym z jedenastu dystryktow pod opieka tej organizacji, wiec pani Haris jest czescia naszej spolecznosci od 2010 roku. Pod koniec tej zimy rodzina pani Harris powita dwoch nowych czlonkow, chlopcow blizniakow.
