Lowell students are expected to dress appropriately so that their appearance or clothing does not distract them or others from learning. Lowell administrators will determine appropriateness of clothing or appearance. Parents are asked to assist your child with clothing decisions that will allow all students to concentrate most effectively on learning. Some general guidelines are: *No tanktops, spaghetti straps, or strapless tops. Any seethrough clothing revealing undergarments is not allowed. Shoulders must be covered between the neck and shoulder by at least 3 inches of fabric. *Shorts, skirts and dresses exceeding 5 inches above the kneecap are considered too short. Use the fingertip rule: hold your arms at your side. Your fingertips should touch the bottom of your shorts,etc. If they do not, they are too short. *Sagging or oversized pants will not be permitted. Pants must be worn at the waist. *Facial painting, spray painted hair, drastic hair dyes, or drastic hair designs that would draw undue attention should not be worn during the school day. *Attire or jewelry that advertises, promotes, or glorifies the use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal substances or any other images or messages are not appropriate for school.
