GOVERNING BOARD CANDIDATE STATEMENT TANQUE VERDE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 13

Jeremy Schalk

My family and I moved Tanque Verde Valley because of TVUSD. I believe quality education is the best means of fueling economic growth. I am the General Manager of a local manufacturing company and find the availability of educated and experienced employees is a major growth constraint. In response to this I am an active member of Southern Arizona Manufacturing Partners (SAMP). As part of this group, I work with Tucson High School and Desert View High School to implement precision machining programs and provide internship opportunities. In addition to working with these high schools I serve on the industry advisory council for Pima Community College (PCC). As a board member I hope to help TVUSD improve Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and increase opportunities for dual enrollment with PCC. Mi familia y yo nos mudamos al Valle de Tanque Verde debido al TVUSD. Creo que la educación de alta calidad es la mejor manera de fomentar el crecimiento de la economía. Soy el Director General de una compañía de

manufacturación local y encuentro que la disponibilidad de empleados educados y con experiencia es una principal limitación al crecimiento. En respuesta a esto soy miembro activo de Southern Arizona Manufacturing Partners (SAMP). Como parte de este grupo, trabajo con la Escuela de Preparatoria de Tucson y la Escuela de Preparatoria de Desert View para implementar programas de torneo de precisión y para proporcionar oportunidades de trabajos de prácticas.

Además de trabajar con estas escuelas de preparatoria sirvo en el consejo asesor del Pima

Community College (PCC). Como un miembro de la Junta espero ayudar al TVUSD a mejorar los programas de Educación Técnica y de Carreras (CTE) y a aumentar las oportunidades de matriculación doble con el PCC. Espero que mi experiencia en los negocios y conexiones con otras instituciones educativas puedan ayudar a mejorar nuestro distrito escolar.
