Industrial UV Solutions Marine/Offshore Markets Severn Trent Services offers the UltraDynamics® ultraviolet (UV) product line to meet the highly specific disinfection needs of the marine and offshore platform industries. The UltraDynamics Series HIE and Series HO are designed for installation and operation in a rugged salt water environment. Systems are available to meet potable water treatment demands for crew complement sizes ranging from 10 to 500, treating 20 to 1,200 gallons per minute (gpm) per UV vessel. Systems can be designed to meet application specific needs, including Class I, Division II compliant UV systems for hazardous area classifications. NEMA 7 and “Z” purge designs are available. When ultraviolet is applied to the water at a specified intensity and length of time, waterborne microorganisms are rendered “microbiologically dead” since the UV light penetrates the cell wall and affects the microorganisms’ DNA such that it is unable to reproduce. Ultraviolet disinfection is an alternative or supplement to traditional chemical disinfectants, such as chlorine, for potable water treatment in offshore platform or marine applications. Ultraviolet disinfection is safe and systems are easy-to-operate. UV systems have a small footprint so they can readily be adapted to fit into an existing facility. In addition, the use of ultraviolet does not inject any taste or odor into the processed water, nor does it produce any undesirable by-products.

UltraDynamics® UV systems are installed after desalination at the discharge of the raw fresh water storage tank. 254 nm germicidal UV lamps are used to maintain a recommended UV dose, deactivating bacteria entering the potable water storage tank or distribution system.

UltraDynamics® UV systems are installed using a recirculation loop on the potable water storage tank after desalination or freshwater delivery. 254 nm germicidal UV lamps are used to disinfect and maintain the integrity of the water, deactivating bacteria prior to entering the potable water distribution system.
3.
UltraDynamics® UV systems are installed downstream of filters on bilge water treatment systems. 254 nm germicidal UV lamps are used to maintain a recommended UV dose required for discharging wastewaters into the oceans or surrounding water body.
