Information on the 2016 Call for Applications to the Scholarship Programme of the Coimbra Group for Young Professors and Researchers from Latin American Universities The scholarships are for Spanish and Portuguese speaking researchers only. About the OAS GS/OAS is the central and permanent organ of the Organization of American States (OAS). Through its Department of Human Development, Education and Employment (DHDEE), GS/OAS supports OAS member states in creating policies and executing programs that promote human capacity development at all educational levels. By enabling formative opportunities to citizens, DHDEE strengthens democratic values and security under the framework of regional integration. DHDEE does this: (i) by supporting the efforts of OAS member states to improve the quality of and equity in education; and (ii) by assisting the citizens of the Americas in realizing their full potential by giving them access to knowledge and skills through training that improves the standard of living for individuals, families and communities in the region.

About the COIMBRA Group: Founded in 1985 and formally constituted by Charter in 1987, the Coimbra Group is an association of long-established European multidisciplinary universities of high international standard. The Coimbra Group is committed to creating special academic and cultural ties in order to promote, for the benefit of its members, internationalization, academic collaboration, excellence in learning and research, and service to society. It is also the purpose of the Group to influence European educational policy and to develop best practice through mutual exchange of experience.

About the Scholarship Programme for Young Professors and Researchers from Latin American Universities: The "Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme for Young Professors and Researchers from Latin American Universities" was launched for the first time in January 2004. This initiative, which offers grants to finance short-term research visits, aims at favoring mobility and academic exchange between the two regions, Europe and Latin America. The Coimbra Group is an association of 38 European universities, which promotes exchanges between European and Latin American researchers and academics. This call for applications for research visit grants is one of the ways in which exchanges are supported. 1
