THE GIFT OF PEACE “There arose no li le dissension and debate.” Did that happen at work this week? Most of us can recall run-ins with coworkers, even with the boss. Did it happen while socializing with friends? Go easy on poli cs, religion...even sports. At home? Even the most peaceful household experiences a li le “give and take” now and then. So where was it that “there arose no li le dissension and debate”? That tumultuous conflict occurred among our first Chris an ancestors, disrup ng the community life of the early church. But today’s Acts of the Apostles shows how beau fully the Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus in today’s Gospel, helped the church achieve a grace-filled resolu on. What evolved was that “reconciled diversity,” o en encouraged by Pope Francis and even envisioned in today’s Revela on passage; and a wondrous experience of Jesus’ promised Gospel gi : “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.”

COMUNION ESPIRITUAL San Alfonso Ma.

- A secular holiday?

In 2000, U.S. Congress passed the Na onal Moment of Remembrance resolu on, encouraging “Americans everywhere, to pause for one minute at 3:00 p.m. (local me) on Memorial Day, to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many to provide freedom for all.”

Eternal rest grant unto them, 0 Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen HOLY FAMILY CATHEDRAL MONDAY, MAY 27 JOIN US FOR MASS AT 9:00 A.M.
