Dear Parents, My name is Diana Vázquez and I am a heritage Spanish speaker from Spain. This is my fourth year teaching FLES in Island Park Schools and my fifth year teaching in the district. I am very excited to begin an adventurous new school year. FLES is a language immersion program that introduces a world language to students in the earlier grades. I will be working closely with classroom teachers to reinforce key components of the core curriculum in Spanish. My lessons are based on the workshop model. I use extensive modeling and demonstration in all modalities of teaching Spanish: speaking, listening, reading and writing. I implement creative technology into my daily lessons to enhance delivery of my instruction. I believe it is my duty to teach students using updated strategies and techniques to get learning results. It is my goal to provide students with strong fundamentals of the Spanish language and to motivate students to experience and develop values that I embrace as a Spanish teacher.
