The second collection in January will be used to help our local ‘SOUTHWEST OPTIONS FOR WOMEN” (previous name – Minnetonka LifeCare Center) on Mainstreet in Hopkins. A small portion will be set aside for our ACCL Committee to provide Pro-Life Education, including future speakers, pamphlets, DVD’s, flyers, postage, etc. Parenting programs, child development classes, financial assistance and even housing are a part of what OPTIONS FOR WOMEN Centers provide. It’s not enough to say “don’t have an abortion” – we can all be a part of helping women consider the Pro-Life decision by letting them know about the no -cost services and life-affirming solutions available for women. The SOUTHWEST OPTIONS FOR WOMEN is EXPANDING! They will continue to support people with pregnancy testing, maternity and baby needs including formula, diapers, baby food and more! They hope to purchase an Ultra-Sound Machine and more! Pray that all these Mothers can make a fresh start, a new beginning and share a positive future with their babies. Cash, coin and checks are welcome or give online direct from your bank account or credit card. Checks are to be made out to St. Gabriel the Archangel Church with ‘ACCL’ written in the memo section. Visit the parish website to give online. Please be generous on January 13 and 14.

We will be taking down the Christmas decorations right after the 8:30am Mass on January 7 at St. Joseph campus. Anyone who is available please help with this.

Because of the Right to Privacy Laws, churches are not notified of parishioners who are hospitalized or in nursing homes unless the person asks specifically that we are called. If you, a family member, or friend would like a visit from the parish, call the Parish Office at (952) 935-5536.

Western Ultreya will be held on Sunday, January 14 at St. Hubert Catholic Community in Chanhassen. Mary & Tom VandeHei will be our speakers. We will begin at 7:00pm downstairs in Room 116 (easy access through door 8 on the south side). Rosary in family room at 6:30pm.

Isaiah 60:1-6; Ephesians 3:2-3a,5-6; Matthew 2:1-12 The manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles as represented by the Magi (Matthew 2:1–12). Isaiah tells us to rise up in splendor, the Light of the World is in our midst! The Magi followed the star. It was the star in the sky that lead the nations of the world to the Christ child. Few of us have Jewish Heritage, so it was this same star that started us on the road to Christ. The star was the beginning, the descent of the Holy Spirit in the upper room is what really opened the door for Gentiles to encounter Christ. In the second reading today, Paul, the one commissioned to carry the gospel to the gentiles, tells us we are coheirs with the Jews to the promises of Christ. The fulfillment of what Isaiah had foretold was now set in motion and nothing was to derail it. Even King Herod’s attempt to destroy the New Born King was stopped twice by an angel: first in the Magi’s dream and then in Joseph’s dream. For more information or to sign up for a small group contact Karen Fish at (952) 239-1949. Reflection Questions: • In your life have you needed “dreams from an angel” to keep you from rejecting the Light of World? • How can I head off attempts made to keep people from finding Christ? • How can I help lead others to the Light of the World?

Sign-up in the foyer at St. John campus to help prepare the meal at St. Joseph campus at 3:00pm or to set-up, serve or clean-up after the meal. CLEAN-UP HELP IS NEEDED FROM 5:30 TO 6:30pm Monetary donations may be sent to St. Gabriel’s parish office, attention Loaves and Fishes. —Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
