Enero  17,  2015       Estimados  Exchange  magazine  Committee,     Estoy  complacida  de    escribir  esta  carta  para  recomendar  a  Bethica  Quinn   como  una  Líder  Emergente  de  la  Educación  en  la  Edad  Temprana  y  Educación   Bilingüe.  Durante  los  dos  últimos  años  he  tenido  oportunidad  y  honor  de  trabajar   bajo  la  dirección  de  Bethica  Quinn  en  el  Centro  “Las  Olas”  donde  se  desempeña   como  maestra  y  directora.  Mi  participación  ha  sido  en  calidad  de    madre  asistente  en   el  salón  de  clase,    apoyando  a  los  maestros  en  el  cuidado  y  en  la  enseñanza  del   idioma  español.     Durante  este  tiempo  he  podido  apreciar  la  gran  entrega  y  dedicación  que   Bethica  tiene  por  los  niños  y  las  familias  del  programa,  jamás  ha  dudado  en  ofrecer   su  experiencia  y  conocimiento  cuando  las  familias  hemos  acudido  en  busca  de  su   apoyo  profesional.  Como  directora  del  programa  se  asegura  de  que  los  padres   quienes  trabajamos  junto  a  los  niños  tengamos  un  continuo  entrenamiento  sobre  el   desarrollo  de  la  niñez  tanto  como  de  técnicas  para  ayudar  a  los  niños  a  despertar  su   creatividad.  Sin  duda  esta  ha  sido  una  experiencia  enriquecedora  e  invalorable  no   solo  para  mi  hijo  por  las  habilidades  desarrolladas  y  el  conocimiento  adquirido  sino   para  mi  como  madre  porque  gracias  al  continuo  entrenamiento  y  orientación   recibidos  cuento  con  mejores  herramientas  que  permiten  apoyar  mejor  a  mi  hijo  y  a   los  niños  en  general.     Bethica  es  una  maestra  con  amplia  experiencia  y  conocimiento  pero  lo  mas   importante  en  mi  opinión  es  que  es  un  ser  humano  valioso  porque  no  solo  imparte   conocimiento  pero  también  destaca  la  importancia  de  inculcar  valores  en  los  niños   tales  como  la  amistad,  respeto  y  valor  por  la  comunidad  y  la  diversidad.  De  manera   que  los  niños  no  solo  desarrollan  sus  habilidades  académicas  pero  también  sus   habilidades  emocionales  y  sociales  fundamentales  para  tener  niños  saludables  y   felices.     En  resumen  Bethica  Quinn  practica  y  demuestra  en  el  trabajo  diario  con  los   niños,  las  familias  de  la  comunidad  todas  y  cada  de  las  cualidades  requeridas  para   ser  una  Líder  Emergente.    En    mi  experiencia  personal  puedo  decir  sin  temor  a   equivocarme  que  su  labor  definitivamente  ha  tenido  un  impacto  positivo  pues   siendo  una  familia  de  inmigrantes  sudamericanos  el  integrarse  en  la  sociedad   estadounidense  no  es  fácil  y  mucho  menos  para  un  niño  en  edad  preescolar.       Por  favor  no  dude  en  contactarse  conmigo  si  es  necesaria  información  adicional.     Sinceramente,   Dheyanira  Calahorrano   415-­‐756-­‐6408    

    [translated  by  Bethica  Quinn]   January  17,  2015       Dear  Exchange  Magazine  Committee,     I  am  pleased  to  write  this  letter  to  recommend  Bethica  Quinn  as  an  Emerging   Leader  in  Early  Childhood  education  and  Bilingual  Education.  For  the  past  two  years   I  have  had  the  opportunity  and  the  honor  of  working  under  the  direction  of  Bethica   Quinn  in  Centro  Las  Olas,  where  she  plays  the  role  of  teacher  and  director.  My  work   has  been  that  of  a  parent-­‐teacher  in  the  classroom,  supporting  the  teachers  in  the   care  of  children  and  in  the  teaching  of  the  Spanish  language.     During  this  time  I  have  been  able  to  perceive  the  great  commitment  and   dedication  that  Bethica  has  to  the  children  and  families  of  the  program;  she  has   never  hesitated  in  offering  her  experience  and  knowledge  when  families  have   sought  her  professional  support.  As  the  program  director,  she  makes  sure  that  the   parents  who  work  with  the  children  have  continual  training  in  child  development  as   well  as  in  strategies  for  supporting  the  children  and  awakening  their  creativity.   Without  a  doubt  this  has  been  an  enriching  and  invaluable  experience,  not  only  for   my  son  as  he  developed  his  abilities  and  acquired  knowledge,  but  for  me  as  a   mother  because  thanks  to  the  training  and  orientation  I  received,  I  have  more  tools   and  am  better  able  to  support  my  son  and  children  in  general.     Bethica  is  a  teacher  with  wide  experience  and  knowledge,  but  more   important  in  my  opinion  is  that  she  is  a  worthwhile  human  being  because  she  not   only  imparts  knowledge,  she  also  emphasizes  the  importance  of  developing  values   in  children  such  as  friendship,  respect,  and  valuing  community  and  diversity.  In  this   way,  the  children  develop  not  only  their  academic  abilities  but  also  the  social  and   emotional  skills  so  fundamental  to  a  healthy  and  happy  childhood.     In  summary,  Bethica  Quinn  practices  and  demonstrates  in  her  daily  work   with  children,  families  and  the  community  each  and  every  one  of  the  required   qualities  to  be  an  Emerging  Leader.  From  personal  experience,  I  can  say  for  sure   that  her  work  has  definitely  had  a  positive  impact  since  for  a  family  of  immigrants   from  South  America  to  integrate  ourselves  in  U.S.  society  has  not  been  easy,  and   much  less  so  for  a  child  of  preschool  age.       Please  do  not  hesitate  to  contact  me  if  more  information  is  needed.     Sincerely,   Dheyanira  Calahorrano   415-­‐756-­‐6408
