LITURGY OF THE WORD LITURGIA DE LA PALABRA EXODUS 12:1-8,11-14 En aquellos días dijo el Señor a Moisés y a Aarón, en el país de Egipto: "Este mes será para ustedes el comienzo de los meses, el primero del año, Hablen a la comunidad de Israel y díganle: El día décimo de este mes, tome cada uno un cordero por familia, un cordero por casa. Pero si la familia fuera demasiado pequeña para consumir el cordero, se pondrá de acuerdo con el vecino más cercano, según el número de personas conforme a lo que cada cual pueda comer. Ustedes escogerán un cordero sin defecto, macho, nacido en el año. En lugar de un cordero podrán también tomar un cabrito. Ustedes lo reservarán hasta el día catorce de este mes. JOHN 13:1-15 Antes de la Fiesta de Pascua, sabiendo Jesús que había llegado la hora de salir de este mundo para ir al Padre, así como había amado a los suyos que quedaban en el mundo, los amó hasta el extremo. Hicieron la Cena. Ya el diablo había puesto en el corazón de Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón, el proyecto de entregar a Jesús. Y él sabía que el Padre había puesto todas las cosas en sus manos, y que de Dios había salido y a Dios volvería. Se levantó mientras cenaba, se quitó el manto, se ató una toalla a la cintura y echó agua en un recipiente. Luego se puso a lavarles los pies a sus discípulos y se los secaba con la toalla. Jesús respondió: "Si no te lavo, no podrás compartir conmigo". Entonces Pedro le dijo: "Señor, si es así, lávame no solamente los píes, sino también las manos y la cabeza". Jesús le contestó: "El que se ha bañado no necesita lavarse más que los pies, pues está del todo limpio. Ustedes están limpios, aunque no todos". Cuando terminó de lavarls los pies y se volvió a poner el manto, se sentó a la mesa y dijo: "¿Entienden ustedes lo que he hecho? Ustedes me llaman: El Señor y el Maestro, les he lavado los pies, también ustedes deben lavarse los pies unos a otros. Les he dado el ejemplo para que ustedes hagan lo mismo que yo les he hecho". WASHING OF THE FEET LAVATORIO DE LOS PIES

Washing of the Feet

From the earliest days of the church the washing of another person’s feet assumed profound religious meaning. For St. Paul (1 Tim 5:10) washing the feet of “the holy ones” was among the tasks to be performed by widows. But it is in the Gospel of John (13:2-20) that we find Jesus washing the feet (the pedilavium) of his disciples. Church tradition has emphasized the humility aspect of this action as well as its servant dimension. Jesus was the “suffering servant” portrayed by the prophet Isaiah.

Desde el inicio de la Iglesia el lavado de los pies de otra persona tomó un significado religioso profundo. Para San Pablo (1 Timoteo 5:10), lavar los pies de “los santos” era una de las tareas que realizaban las viudas. The Blessed Sacrament is carried through the church in procession, led by the crossbearer and the candle bearers. Then, you may move to the chapel and venerate the Eucharist in silence. Please maintain respectful silence in the church, as you leave or as you move to venerate the Blessed Sacrament. The repose of the Blessed Sacrament concludes the service.

TRISAGION

The altar will be stripped by the servers and acolytes, in silence. All adornment of the church will be removed. All votive lights will be extinguished, and the water in the baptismal font will be removed. Severe symbolism remains until the Gloria in the Easter Vigil, on Saturday night.
