Barry Simpson, Superintendent 301 N. Fowler Street, Bishop CA, 93514 760.872.3680 Dear Parents and Guardians. Many of you may already be aware, but on Wednesday, October 4th, one of our students posted a disturbing image on social media. This post quickly went viral in our community and many individuals were frightened and concerned, especially in light of the devastating event that recently occurred in Las Vegas, Nevada. I would like our community to know that local law enforcement was immediately contacted about the post and members of the Bishop Police Department made contact with the family. All weapons shown in the social media post are replicas and are commonly known as ‘air soft’ guns. While they look very real, they are not lethal. All of the guns were confiscated by law enforcement and the student has no access to real weaponry. Please know that the Bishop Unified School District takes these situations very seriously and will not tolerate this type of online activity. Any threat, implied or otherwise, will be dealt with as quickly and as thoroughly as possible. The BUHS administration has already been in contact with this student and his family. Finally, I would like to thank the individuals in the community that contacted our local law enforcement. At the Bishop Unified School District we teach our students that, “If you see something, say something.” This is an important message for the entire community. Thank you very much. Queridos padres y guardianes.

Muchas gracias.
