ANAFAPYT is an active member of the International Paint and Printing Ink Council (IPPIC), which seeks to address the health, safety and environmental impacts associated with the manufacture and use of coatings and printing inks, including the recognition, evaluation and control of hazards arising from the use of lead in paint. La Asociación Nacional de Fabricantes de Pinturas y Tintas, A.C. (ANAFAPYT) es una organización cuyos socios representan intereses tanto de los fabricantes de pinturas y tintas como de su cadena de suministro. ANAFAPYT es miembro activo del Consejo Internacional de Pinturas y Tintas para Impresión (IPPIC, por sus siglas en inglés), el cual busca abordar temas de salud, seguridad e impacto medioambiental asociados con la fabricación y uso de recubrimientos y tintas para impresión, incluyendo el reconocimiento, evaluación y control de peligros provenientes del uso de compuestos de plomo en pinturas. IPPIC established the following policy statement in 2009, which ANAFAPYT fully supports: IPPIC adoptó la siguiente política general en 2009, la cual ANAFAPYT apoya plenamente: “IPPIC supports the long-standing effectiveness of lead-use restrictions that are already in place in certain jurisdictions and recommends their widespread adoption by authorities not currently regulating the use of lead in paint and printing ink. Además, ANAFAPYT apoya los esfuerzos continuos del IPPIC como miembro de la Alianza Global para Eliminar el Plomo de las Pinturas (GAELP, por sus siglas en inglés), promoviendo “el objetivo general de GAELP para… “Prevent children’s exposure to paints containing lead and to minimize occupational exposure to lead paint,” and include [emphasis added]… “evitar la exposición de los niños a pinturas que contienen plomo y reducir a un mínimo la exposición ocupacional a la pintura con plomo”, e incluir (énfasis añadido)… “the participation of representatives and interested experts from Governments, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) including civil society, regional bodies, philanthropic organizations, academia, the media and the private sector. 1” “la participación de representantes y expertos de los diferentes Gobiernos, organizaciones intergubernamentales, organizaciones no gubernamentales (ONGs), incluyendo la sociedad civil, organismos regionales, organizaciones filantrópicas, instituciones académicas, medios de comunicación y el sector privado. 1" ANAFAPYT working through IPPIC (a recognized Non-governmental Organization (NGO) that has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)) acknowledges the critical aspects of the formal GAELP Business Plan2: ANAFAPYT, a través del IPPIC, una ONG con carácter consultivo ante el Consejo Nacional Social y Económico de las Naciones Unidas (ECOSOC, por sus siglas en inglés), reconoce los aspectos críticos del Plan de Trabajo GAELP 2: “Promoting the establishment of appropriate national regulatory frameworks to stop the manufacture, import, export, sale and use of lead paints and products coated with lead paints” “Promover el establecimiento de esquemas regulatorios nacionales adecuados para detener la fabricación, importación, exportación, venta y uso de pinturas con plomo y artículos recubiertos con pinturas que contengan plomo” ANAFAPYT is working with IPPIC in its efforts to engage governments to establish appropriate legislative and regulatory restrictions on the use of lead in paint, taking into account the critical technical considerations needed to establish such restrictions.

ANAFAPYT colabora con el IPPIC en sus esfuerzos para implicar a las autoridades nacionales para establecer restricciones legislativas y regulatorias al uso de compuestos de plomo en pinturas, tomando en cuenta las consideraciones técnicas críticas para establecer dichas restricciones. Accordingly, ANAFAPYT acknowledges and supports many of the activities proposed by GAELP participants and other interested parties during the “International Week of Recognition of Lead Poisoning3” (October 20-26th 2013).
