Switchamajig Controller Quick-Start Guide Thank you for purchasing a Switchamajig Controller. We hope you enjoy using it and encourage you to share your experiences and suggestions with us. Your Box Should Contain: The Switchamajig Controller and a bag of six cables, each with colored ends. These cables connect the Controller to adapted devices. The colors help you keep track of what is connected to what. To get started, you will also need: An Apple iPad with the Switchamajig app installed (it's free on iTunes.) You need iOS 5.0 or higher. Two AA Batteries A switch-adapted device 1) Install the batteries in the Switchamajig Controller. Its light should flash red briefly and then stay solid red. That indicates that it has created a WiFi ad-hoc network called “Switchamajig”. 2) Use the cables to connect the Switchamajig controller to a toy. Plug the cables into the green plugs, starting with number 1. 3) On your iPad, open the settings and select WiFi. You should see a network called “Switchamajig.” Sometimes it takes a few scans for it to find it. Select this network, and mark it as auto-join.

4) Open the Switchamajig app. It will show you a Quick-Start Wizard. You definitely want to enable support for the Switchamajig Controller. If you want to customize the panels, turn on editing. The Switchamajig IR is sold separately and gives you control over anything that comes with an infrared remote: TVs, home theater systems, etc (even some toys.) Tap 'Back' when the settings look right. 5) If you have the networking configured, the app will find your Switchamajig Controller automatically and tell you about it at the top of the screen. 6) Select a switch panel to control your toy. When the panel appears, press the switches to activate your toy. Now you're Switchamajigging! Have fun!

Switchamajig Controller Details The Button After ten minutes of inactivity, the Switchamajig Controller will go to sleep to conserve its batteries. If you press the button, it will wake up again. You can also plug any capability switch into the Controller so anyone can wake it up. App Settings The Switchamajig App has a lot of settings that allow you to customize the size of the buttons and text, get rid of the “Enable Back” button, and edit the panels to customize the screen layout. We're adding features all the time, but usually we force you to turn them on in Settings so that our users with special needs don't accidentally make changes or get stuck in a new feature. Switchamajigging on Your Own Network Changing to the Switchamajig network each time you use it can get old, and the Switchamajig Controller usually works best if it's using an established WiFi access point rather than setting up its own network. Configuring WiFi with WPS WPS stands for WiFi Protected Setup. Many newer WiFi routers support push-button setup. Push the WPS button on your router, and then hold down the button on the Switchamajig Controller until it starts to blink yellow (5-10 seconds.) If all goes well, it will join your network and show the LED as solid yellow. You then need to make sure that your iPad is on the same network, and the Switchamajig Controller's name should appear shortly after you start the app. Configuring WiFi without WPS If you don't have WPS or it refuses to cooperate, you can configure your Switchamajig Controller directly. In Settings, turn on “Show Network Config Button”. Then you can configure your Switchamajig's name and network settings in the app. Your main challenge is knowing your WiFi channel; that needs to match the channel on your WiFi router. The LED's colors Solid red: starting up or creating a Switchamajig network. Blinking red: searching for a network Solid yellow: connected to a network Blinking yellow: scanning with WPS for networks Solid green: connected to Switchamajig app

What if it Doesn't Work? Most issues with Switchamajig stem from two issues: batteries and WiFi interference. If your Controller is misbehaving, try a brand-new set of batteries. If you're in an environment with many overlapping WiFi networks, Switchamajig may struggle to gets its information through. Your best bet in these situations is to configure the Switchamajig (and your iPad) to join the strongest WiFi network in the area. In extreme cases where you can't connect to the Switchamajig to tell it to join the WiFi network, you may need to remove the Switchamajig to a clear WiFi area and configure it there.
