2018 LEGISLATIVE SUMMIT

/// A MESSAGE FROM

USHCC INTERIM PRESIDENT & CEO Dear USHCC Friends and Supporters, It is an honor to welcome you to our 2018 USHCC Legislative Summit! In the wake of the changes the past year has brought to our country’s political climate, at the USHCC, we believe it is imperative to engage with all our elected officials across the political spectrum to address issues that affect the American community – specifically Hispanic business enterprise.

Our annual Legislative Summit has long been a key pillar of the USHCC. Along with our National Convention, it is one of two events that we hold every year in order to help ensure the prosperity of the Hispanic business community. I encourage you to participate in the conversations, exclusive business matchmaking sessions between entrepreneurs and federal agencies, networking events, panel discussions, and the gala to be held at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium. These activities fit squarely into the mission of the USHCC. Each and every day, we advocate on behalf of the livelihood of our organization — the 4.37 million Hispanicowned businesses that annually contribute more than $700 billion to our economy. We represent 260 corporations and simultaneously serve as the umbrella organization for more than 200 local chambers and business associations nationwide, institutions which allow us to serve as the premiere voice and champion of Hispanic-owned businesses.

FERNAND FERNANDEZ USHCC INTERIM PRESIDENT & CEO

WASH IN G TO N , D .C.

The goal of this year’s Summit is to underscore the importance of bipartisanship in this period of fierce divisiveness. We are confident that the event will, once again, serve as a platform for our members to positively and directly engage with members of Congress, administration officials, and policy experts. While they are the powerbrokers in Washington driving our nation’s legislative agenda, it is USHCC members that power the American economy.

Through increased investment, job creation, and community development from New York to California, and everywhere in between, Hispanic business owners and their employees are making pivotal changes every day. I look forward to seeing the Summit be an opportunity to advocate for policies that allow markets to grow and flourish, and to be a principal venue for our nation’s leaders to hear from the men and women powering the American economy. On behalf of the staff, our USHCC Board of Directors, our Corporate Chair for this event, and the countless volunteers, I welcome you to Washington, D.C., and to the 2018 USHCC Legislative Summit. I look forward to meeting you all! Yours in service,

Fernand Fernandez Interim President & CEO United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Safety doesn’t come in a box. It’s not a banner that goes on a wall. It’s not something you do now and then. Or when it’s convenient. It’s using state-of-the-art simulators to better prepare for any situation. It’s giving offshore teams 24/7 support from onshore experts. And it’s empowering anyone to stop a job if something doesn’t seem right. Safety is never being satisfied. And always working to be better.

HOW THE PRIVATE SECTOR CAN ADDRESS THE INFRASTRUCTURE CRISIS WORKSHOP

SPONSORED BY

10:30 AM – 11:30 AM Buchanan Room Infrastructure has always connected businesses to consumers, but the meaning of infrastructure is evolving beyond its traditional definition. In 2018, infrastructure also includes technological infrastructure—such as broadband internet connectivity, energy infrastructure—such as power grids and wind turbines, and traditional physical infrastructure—such as bridges, roads, and waterways. American infrastructure, new and old, is in desperate need of renovation. Investing in infrastructure enjoys bipartisan support in Congress, as well as overwhelming enthusiasm from the American business community, but what will it take to make change happen? 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM Buchanan Room What is energy? How has the market for energy evolved? How do changes in energy regulation impact my business? These are questions we aim to answer in our energy workshop. Not only has U.S. energy production transformed using new techniques such as fracking, our perception of energy consumption in the face of environmental degradation has changed as well. Under the new presidential administration, deregulation and shifts in international trade and commerce have changed the way that we buy and sell energy. The purpose of this workshop is to dive into daily energy costs for American businesses, the regulatory landscape for different types of energy production, and the overall energy market in the United States. It also advocates on behalf of 260 major American corporations and serves as the umbrella organization for more than 200 local chambers and business associations nationwide. Made up of three constituents - Hispanic Business Enterprises (HBEs), local Chambers and business associations, and Corporate Partner Members (CPMs) - the USHCC’s mission is to foster Hispanic economic development and to build sustainable prosperity for the benefit of American society. It does so through advocacy and professional education, by creating opportunities in corporate and federal procurement, and prioritizing the placement of Hispanics in corporate boardrooms. For over 35 years, the USHCC has advocated in Washington on behalf of our business community for public policies such as access to capital, federal procurement, affordable energy, the environment, health care reform and comprehensive immigration reform.

USHCC ADVISORY BOARDS SENIOR EXECUTIVE CORPORATE ADVISORY BOARD (SECAB) The Senior Executive Corporate Advisory Board (SECAB) of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) is composed of a diverse ensemble of the nation’s most respected, experienced, and effective senior level executives who are active members of the USHCC through our Corporate Partner Membership Program (CPM). OVERVIEW

USHCC PROGRAMS HISPANIC BUSINESS ENTERPRISE (HBE) MEMBERSHIP
Two-thirds of American jobs are created by small businesses, and Hispanic enterprises are leading this critical growth; starting new ventures at a rate three times the national average. The HBE program provides a national platform to Hispanic-owned companies that have scaled and grown beyond the scope of local chambers of commerce. In addition to advocating on behalf of HBEs on Capitol Hill and across the country, the USHCC equips members with resources and knowledge to grow their business by raising awareness on procurement opportunities and introducing them to a broad network of decision makers in both the public and private sectors.

CPM program provides USHCC Corporate members with access to a vast array of Hispanic Businesses Enterprises (HBEs) from emerging small ventures to established businesses with revenues of over one billion dollars. Our ability to connect USHCC Corporate members to such a broad network of HBEs is facilitated by the network we maintain with our over 200 Hispanic Chambers across the country, numerous business matchmaking events throughout the year, and our nationally-renowned conferences, including the Legislative Summit and the USHCC National Convention -- the largest gathering of Hispanic business owners in America.

BUSINESS MATCHMAKING The USHCC’s Business Matchmaking provides a unique forum for Hispanic Business Enterprises (HBEs) to connect with procurement officers from federal agencies and Fortune 500 companies, representing hundreds
of millions of dollars in business opportunities.

These meetings provide an opportunity for buyers and suppliers to discuss specific projects and capabilities. Small businesses or suppliers must pre- register for the event using individual NAICS codes or business categories. Each meeting lasts approximately 15 minutes. All meetings are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

LOCAL CHAMBER GRANT PROGRAM The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce provides local chamber members access to funds each year for existing programs that strengthen and foster the growth of small business communities. Multiple grants ranging in size are awarded to local chambers who continue to serve their members and local business communities. These funds have supported a variety of programs spanning from empowering entrepreneurs, promoting green energy, and advancing diversity and inclusion.
