Dear Parents and Students, Our field trip, today, to St. Francis Xavier Cathedral went wonderfully! The students were well-behaved and learned many things! Our day started with a history of the Green Bay Diocese and the building of the Cathedral. The original building cost $35,000! It took five years to raise the money, some of it coming from German missionaries. Father Mark came with us and had the students walk around the Cathedral, share information, and ask questions. We got to see inside of the confessionals, the baptistry, touch the life-size angel statues on either side of the tabernacle, and look at the beautiful stained-glass windows. There is a little museum under the Cathedral. Students got to see artifacts from 1851. We made “God’s Eyes” together. Then the class prayed the Rosary in the Rosary Garden. Afternoon activities included playing Catholic Hedbanz, hearing about Mary’s apparition at Lourdes, and writing thank you cards that went to the Cathedral's director. I hope your child came home tonight with a few things to share with you about the day. The Cathedral is open to the public during business hours, if you are interested in checking it out. I am so thankful that you could take the time to spend the day with us! Information for the rest of the school year: Friday, May 31, is Service Day. Students should wear their “Hello” t-shirt, comfortable shorts, and gym shoes. We will be outside most of the day. Students can bring along a water bottle for outside. Wearing sunscreen to school may be a good idea.They will be doing a whole school photo, a 1-mile walk with our Aspiro friends, organizing the church’s food pantry, helping at the parish, organizing the book donations and making bookmarks, participating in the Sole Hope Project (making parts for shoes), and making dog toys. There is NO Mass this Friday! Monday, June 3, is Carnival Day. Students should wear their “Hello” t-shirt, comfortable shorts, and gym shoes. We will be outside most of the day. Students can bring along a water bottle for outside. Wearing sunscreen to school may be a good idea. The students will be doing many fun games! They may even get a chance to throw a pie in my face! I am just a little nervous about this! The teachers organizing the day wanted us to ask you to send another set of clothes along, in case anyone gets really wet. Tuesday, June 4, has many things going on. We are starting out the day with a K9 demonstration for grades K-5. We will clean lockers and desks out. In the afternoon, we will be going to Preble Park. Thanks to the parents/grandparents who are volunteering to run the activities at Preble! Students may wear comfortable clothing and gym shoes for the day. No uniform is needed!! Sunscreen may be a good idea, too.

Thank you for the water and popsicle donations! What generous families we have!! If you could have your child bring them to school either Friday or Monday, then the teachers will know if we need to pick up any other items before Tuesday. If you are sending popsicles, the students may come into school with them so they don’t melt while waiting in line before school. THANKS! Wednesday, June 5, will be cleaning the classroom and playing some games. The students may wear comfortable clothes. No uniform! If you have a child who would like to play one more song with their recorder to earn a belt, Mrs. Karnopp is willing to listen to them on Wednesday morning. Please send along recorders and music on Wednesday morning! The students will be signing yearbooks in the afternoon. If your child bought a yearbook, I have them ready to pass out. If your child did not buy a yearbook, I will have a paper autograph book for them so they can have friends sign it. Thursday, June 6, is our last day of school. We start the day with Mass at 8:45. It is a Dress Up or Uniform. There is an awards ceremony after Mass in church. Once we are dismissed, we will go back to the classroom for the final time, share memories, get report cards and special book from me. Dismissal is at 11:00 AM. That is a lot of information to share. Estimados padres y alumnos, ¡Nuestro viaje de campo, hoy, a la catedral de San Francisco Javier fue maravilloso! ¡Los estudiantes se portaron bien y aprendieron muchas cosas! Nuestro día comenzó con una historia de la Diócesis de Green Bay y el edificio de la Catedral. El edificio original cuesta $ 35,000! Llevó cinco años recaudar dinero, parte de ellos proveniente de misioneros alemanes. El lunes 3 de junio es el día del carnaval. Los estudiantes deben usar su camiseta "Hello", pantalones cortos cómodos y zapatillas de gimnasia. Estaremos afuera la mayor parte del día. Los estudiantes pueden traer una botella de agua para el exterior. Llevar protector solar a la escuela puede ser una buena idea. ¡Los estudiantes estarán haciendo muchos juegos divertidos! ¡Incluso pueden tener la oportunidad de lanzar un pastel en mi cara! ¡Estoy un poco nervioso por esto! Los maestros que organizan el día querían que les pidiéramos que enviáramos otro conjunto de ropa, en caso de que alguien se moje mucho. Martes, 4 de junio, tiene muchas cosas sucediendo. Comenzamos el día con una demostración de K9 para los grados K-5. Limpiaremos casilleros y escritorios fuera. Por la tarde, iremos a Preble Park. ¡Gracias a los padres / abuelos que se ofrecen como voluntarios para dirigir las actividades en Preble! Los estudiantes pueden usar ropa cómoda y zapatos deportivos para el día. No se necesita uniforme !! Si puede hacer que su hijo los traiga a la escuela el viernes o el lunes, entonces los maestros sabrán si necesitamos recoger otros artículos antes del martes. Si está enviando paletas, los estudiantes pueden venir a la escuela con ellos para que no se derritan mientras esperan en la fila antes de la escuela. ¡GRACIAS!

El miércoles, 5 de junio, limpiaremos el aula y jugaremos algunos juegos. Los estudiantes pueden usar ropa cómoda. No uniforme Si tiene un niño que le gustaría tocar una canción más con su grabadora para ganar un cinturón, la Sra. Karnopp está dispuesta a escucharlos el miércoles por la mañana. ¡Por favor envíe grabadoras y música el miércoles por la mañana! Los alumnos firmarán los anuarios por la tarde. Si su hijo compró un anuario, los tengo listos para desmayarse. Si su hijo no compró un anuario, tendré un libro de autógrafos en papel para que puedan hacer que sus amigos lo firmen. El jueves 6 de junio es nuestro último día de clases. Comenzamos el día con misa a las 8:45. Es un vestido o uniforme. Hay una ceremonia de premiación después de la misa en la iglesia. Una vez que salgamos, volveremos al aula por última vez, compartiremos recuerdos, obtendremos boletines de calificaciones y un libro especial de mi parte. El despido es a las 11:00 AM. Eso es mucha información para compartir. Lo siento, se hizo tan largo.
