Dear Families, The countdown is on! It seems each day someone is asking me how many more days of school. They are excited for summer! I miss the students in the summertime! Here are some of our learning experiences this week: Religion​-The class got into groups to act out the Good Samaritan story with puppets! The students used their creativity when they chose their puppets and shared their part of the story. From there, we moved on to a discussion of enemies and that Jesus tells us we have to love our enemies. Later this week, the students heard a story about a girl who stole her classmate’s birthday gift. Next week, we will work on “I” statements and expressing ourselves when we disagree or are hurt by someone. Math​-Decimals are the topic of the week again. The students learned to change fractions into decimals (up to thousandths). They learned how to compare decimals and find with one is greater than or less than the other. Sometimes, the decimals were equal (4.6 = 4.60). Reading​-The students finished sharing their book reports this week. What some amazing projects! Many Jeopardy! game boards, a number book, a few skits, MadLibs, decorated t-shirts, suitcases packed for grandma’s, and dioramas! Writing​-The students looked over their animal research papers to make sure all requirements were met. They wrote their final letter to Trucker Buddy Jim thanking him for visiting us and for the gifts of flowers and gift cards. Social Studies​-The students learned the names and places of the last 11 states (the Western region) they needed to learn. We sang the “Fifty Nifty United States” song a few times! Each student researched one of the WI state symbol and today, they made their own salt dough so they could make a statue of their WI state symbol. Next week, they will paint them. Please ask your child if they have any books that need to go back to the school or classroom library. Mrs. Lani talked to everyone who still has any books checked out and asked them to get the books back as soon as possible. Several students borrowed books from my classroom library, too. I have asked the students to return them for next year’s students. Next Thursday, we are going on our field trip to St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. The teachers have many activities planned for our full day field trip. We will meet in the Cathedral to start with and then move in classroom groups to the other activities. Students should wear their uniform that day. I will have a cooler available for disposable lunches. School provided lunches, if you ordered one, will be in coolers as well. Also, next Thursday, each student will be coming home with a new t-shirt. They are to wear their new t-shirt on Friday for Service Day. They can wear any comfortable bottoms and gym shoes because they are going to be busy doing many activities. They will also be wearing the t-shirt on Monday for our Carnival Day, with comfortable bottoms and gym shoes.

As we come to the close of the school year, students will be bringing items home that are no longer needed for the last few days of school. Lockers, desks, workbooks, journals, and completed papers will be making their way home soon. (You are welcome in advance. ;) ) Wednesday is our last day to spend some time with our 4K Reading Buddies. We will be making a craft together and playing outside for a little while. We made some friends and enjoyed reading together! The class has earned over 1,100 Paw Prides this past few months! That is enough for two special PBIS activities. We will be voting tomorrow on the two activities that will be completed before school is done. Questions for the week: What puppet did you have for the Good Samaritan Bible story? Queridas familias, ¡La cuenta atrás está en marcha! Parece que cada día alguien me pregunta cuántos días más de escuela. ¡Están entusiasmados por el verano! ¡Extraño a los estudiantes en el verano! Aquí están algunas de nuestras experiencias de aprendizaje esta semana: Religión-​ ¡La clase se agrupó para representar la historia del buen samaritano con títeres! Los estudiantes usaron su creatividad cuando eligieron sus títeres y compartieron su parte de la historia. A partir de ahí, pasamos a una discusión de enemigos y Jesús nos dice que debemos amar a nuestros enemigos. A finales de esta semana, los estudiantes escucharon una historia sobre una niña que robó el regalo de cumpleaños de su compañera de clase. La próxima semana, trabajaremos en las declaraciones en "I" y expresándonos cuando no estemos de acuerdo o seamos heridos por alguien. Matemáticas​-decimales son el tema de la semana de nuevo. Los estudiantes aprendieron a cambiar fracciones en decimales (hasta milésimas). Aprendieron cómo comparar decimales y encontrar con uno es mayor o menor que el otro. Tableros de juego, un libro de números, algunos parodias, MadLibs, camisetas decoradas, maletas empacadas para la abuela y dioramas. Escritura-​ los estudiantes revisaron sus trabajos de investigación en animales para asegurarse de que se cumplieran todos los requisitos. A medida que nos acercamos al cierre del año escolar, los estudiantes llevarán a casa artículos que ya no son necesarios durante los últimos días de clases. Los casilleros, los escritorios, los libros de trabajo, las revistas y los documentos completos se dirigirán a casa pronto. (Eres bienvenido de antemano.;) ) El miércoles es nuestro último día para pasar un tiempo con nuestros 4K Reading Buddies. Haremos una manualidad juntos y jugaremos afuera por un rato.
