Dear Fourth Grade Families, Blessings for you all during this Holy Week and upcoming Easter Season! Enjoy the next four days together as we celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection! Things we learned this week: Religion-​Our lessons this week were about Holy Week, including Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. We went to church to watch the 8th graders’ Stations of the Cross performance (which was amazing!). On Thursday, we went to church to practice our parts for Mass next week. Math​-The math students in Ms. Etter’s class took their measurement test this week. My math students brought home their math tests this week. The students have been working on getting their corrections done and missing work completed. There are a few students who still need to complete some of these. Both math classes worked on solving a math problem with a digital breakout box and practiced their math skills online. Reading/Writing​-We concluded the week by completing our animal research. Next week, we will work on writing an outline and start our rough draft of our animal research papers. Grammar- ​The students brought home their verb test last week. As of today, only eight students have returned their verb test with a parent signature. Ask your child where their verb test is so you can sign it. Science-​ The students started their last science unit this week. They are learning about Animal Classifications and Ecosystems with Ms. Etter. There was a “pet” in science class on Thursday! Health​-Room 7 volunteered to create posters for next week’s “Wellness Walk” for our whole school. Sometime next week, the classroom teachers are asked to take their class for a walk around the school/church property to promote healthy exercise. Our class wants to try to walk ½ mile each day of the week! Challenge accepted! Please return the yellow field trip permission slip/lunch order for our field trip to St. Francis Xavier Cathedral on May 30. Also, if you haven’t returned the yellow lunch slip for the end of the year picnic, please return it as soon as possible. Every student must return the lunch slips. Our first Spring MAP test went pretty well this week. Many of the students improved their scores from last Fall, and some even beat their goal set by the MAP testing company. Next week, the students will be taking the Language Usage MAP test on Tuesday morning. Help your child to get a good night’s sleep Monday night and a good breakfast on Tuesday morning. Our Mass is on Friday, April 26 at 8:45 AM. All are invited to join us. If your child has a reading part, please remind them to practice reading their part a few times over Easter break. We will be acting out the Gospel story and singing a song that goes along with the theme of the Mass. April book reports will continue in the next week and a half. Here are their days:

There is still time to sign up, if your child is interested. The cost is $25 and include a meal, prayer activity, games and problem solving activity. If you responded to my email from last week about bird feeder supplies, please send the Cheerios, Crisco, or raisins you volunteered to donate on Tuesday. We will be using them on Thursday, April 25. Queridas familias de cuarto grado, ¡Bendiciones para todos ustedes durante esta Semana Santa y la próxima Temporada de Pascua! ¡Disfruten los próximos cuatro días juntos mientras celebramos la muerte y resurrección de Jesús! Cosas que aprendimos esta semana: Religión:​ nuestras lecciones de esta semana fueron sobre la Semana Santa, incluyendo el Domingo de Ramos, el Jueves Santo, el Viernes Santo y el Sábado Santo. Matemáticas​: los estudiantes de matemáticas de la clase de la Sra. Etter tomaron su examen de medición esta semana. Mis estudiantes de matemáticas trajeron a casa sus exámenes de matemáticas esta semana. Los estudiantes han estado trabajando para hacer sus correcciones y faltar el trabajo completado. Hay algunos estudiantes que todavía necesitan completar algunos de estos. Ambas clases de matemáticas trabajaron para resolver un problema de matemáticas con una caja de ruptura digital y practicaron sus habilidades matemáticas en línea. Lectura / escritura:​ concluimos la semana completando nuestra investigación en animales. La próxima semana, trabajaremos en escribir un esquema y comenzaremos nuestro borrador de nuestros trabajos de investigación con animales. Gramática​: Los estudiantes trajeron a casa su examen verbal la semana pasada. A partir de hoy, solo ocho estudiantes han regresado su examen verbal con la firma de un padre. Pregúntele a su hijo dónde está su examen verbal para que pueda firmarlo. Ciencia​: Los estudiantes comenzaron su última unidad de ciencia esta semana. Están aprendiendo sobre clasificaciones de animales y ecosistemas con la Sra. Etter. ¡Hubo una "mascota" en la clase de ciencias el jueves! Salud: ​Room 7 se ofreció como voluntario para crear carteles para la "Caminata de Bienestar" de la próxima semana para toda la escuela.
