Alhambra es hoy, fiel a su historia, la meta de muchos viajeros; quizás el mejor tesoro que guarda la ciudad de Granada. Disfrutar de su belleza recorriendo las estancias palatinas entre los aromas de sus patios y jardines, deleitarse en los contrastes de luz y color que ofrecen sus ornamentados salones o recrear la mirada con sus impresionantes vistas del Albaicín, la Vega, el Sacromonte o de la misma colina donde se asienta, constituye todo ello un privilegio inolvidable para los sentidos. Lugar de encuentro cultural y de destino elegido por millones de personas de todo el mundo, la Alhambra viene siendo desde hace decenas de años fuente de inspiración para creadores, artistas e investigadores de todo el mundo en sus más variados campos, lo cual añade una singularidad especial que acrecienta su valor sociocultural e histórico. Un paseo minucioso por los espectaculares bosques de densa arboleda y fuentes sonoras de la colina de la Sabika nos guían al carmen de la Fundación Rodríguez–Acosta, al Auditorio Manuel de Falla y su casa–museo, al carmen de los Mártires o desde el conjunto Monumental de la Alhambra y Generalife, que se extiende ahora por la ciudad de Granada mediante el nuevo programa La Dobla de Oro, hacia otros monumentos hispanomusulmanes. Desde el mes de junio hasta septiembre, toda la colina vive una extraordinaria efervescencia cultural con numerosas actividades de proyección internacional: Festival Cines del Sur, Festival Internacional de Música y Danza, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Lorca y Granada en los Jardines del Generalife, Noches de guitarra en los Jardines de Falla, concierto de Pasión Vega, a lo que se suma la actividad educativa de verano en la Alhambra y en la Fundación Rodríguez–Acosta, un intenso programa de exposiciones y piezas del mes en los museos de la Alhambra, Bellas Artes y Colección Gómez–Moreno, así como la programación cultural escénica (teatro, flamenco, músicas) en el Corral del Carbón y expositiva en La Dobla de Oro. Para dar cuenta de ello, se edita este folleto donde se recoge ese conjunto de actividades culturales, turísticas y educativas que tienen lugar en la colina y en espacios monumentales de la ciudad dependientes, organizadas o participadas por la Alhambra, así como las que llevan a cabo otras relevantes Instituciones culturales. Todas ellas, en su conjunto, dan cuenta de un impresionante legado vivo que acrecienta y enriquece el bienestar, la conciencia, el empleo y la participación de los ciudadanos en los Bienes Culturales, así como de las decenas de creativos, gestores, técnicos y empresas que los hacen posible. ¡Ven, pasea, mira, escucha y disfruta!

Alhambra remains today, just as it always has been, a goal for many travellers, perhaps the best treasure to be found in Granada. To enjoy its beauty by strolling around its palaces amongst the aromas of its courtyards and gardens, to delight in the contrasts of light and colour offered by its richly decorated halls or to pleasure your eyes with the amazing views of the Albaicín, the Vega, Sacromonte or the very hill on which the Alhambra stands are all unforgettable privileges for the senses. A cultural meeting place and a destination chosen by millions of people, for decades the Alhambra has been a source of inspiration for creators, artists and researchers from all over the world in the widest range of fields, a fact that gives it a special uniqueness that enhances its historic and sociocultural value. A pleasant walk through the spectacular densely–treed woods and the bubbling fountains on the hill of the Sabika guides us to the Rodríguez–Acosta Foundation, the Manuel de Falla Auditorium and its House– Museum, and on to the Carmen de los Mártires. From there we come to the Alhambra and Generalife Group of Monuments, which now extends across the city of Granada to take in other Hispano–Muslim monuments in the new Dobla de Oro (Golden Doubloon) programme. From June to September, the whole hill brims over with an extraordinary cultural effervescence with a variety of events of international importance. The Cines del Sur Film Festival, the International Festival of Music and Dance, the City of Granada Orchestra, Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens, Nights with Guitars in the Falla Gardens, a concert by Pasión Vega, plus the educational activities organized in the summer in the Alhambra and the Rodríguez–Acosta Foundation. There is also an intensive programme of exhibitions and pieces of the month in the Museum of the Alhambra, the Fine Arts Museum and the Gómez–Moreno Collection, and a rich variety of stage performances (theatre, flamenco, music) at the Corral del Carbón, as well as exhibitions at the monuments covered by the Dobla de Oro. To place all this on record we have decided to publish this leaflet with details of all the cultural, tourism and educational activities that will be taking place on the Alhambra hill and the other monuments in the city of Granada that are run by the Alhambra or have organizational links with it, as well as events arranged by other important cultural institutions. When added together they create a highly impressive living legacy which increases employment and the general welfare of the city and enhances public awareness and participation in cultural heritage, without forgetting of course the dozens of creators, managers, technical experts and companies that make this all possible. El conjunto dispone de un rico y variado programa de visita que incluye diversos itinerarios por el mismo, así como itinerarios por el entorno monumental y paisajístico, recorridos temáticos, etc. que a continuación le detallamos. The Alhambra is a group of monuments created over more than six centuries in a wide variety of architectural styles ranging from Islamic to Renaissance and Romantic. The views of the gardens, the murmur of the breeze rustling the trees together with the ever–present sound of water insulate us from everyday noise, transforming a pleasant walk into a unique experience. THE GOLDEN DOUBLOON

Se trata de una nueva modalidad de visita pública que pretende promover las relaciones entre la Alhambra y Generalife, el Albaicín y el Centro Histórico de Granada, desvelando su carácter de paisaje social y cultural. Se pretende también revalorizar el diálogo entre dos lugares de la ciudad declarados Patrimonio Mundial por la UNESCO mediante una propuesta cultural y turística. El itinerario comprende una visita a la Alhambra y Generalife y a los siguientes edificios históricos a lo largo del Albaicín y de la ciudad de Granada: El Bañuelo, La Casa Morisca de la calle Horno de Oro, el palacio de Dar al–Horra, el Corral del Carbón, la Casa de Zafra y las Casas del Chapiz. Se suman al itinerario como monumentos asociados (con descuento en su visita al presentar la tarjeta Dobla de Oro): la Fundación Rodríguez–Acosta, las iglesias de San Pedro y San Pablo, Santa Ana, de Nuestro Salvador y la abadía del Sacromonte.

This is a new type of visit that seeks to strengthen ties between the Alhambra and Generalife, the Albaicín and the Old City of Granada, by showing visitors its social and cultural landscape. It also seeks to forge stronger links between the two parts of the city declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO by creating an attractive cultural tourism package. The itinerary involves a visit over two consecutive days to the Alhambra and Generalife and to the following historic buildings in the Albaicín and the city of Granada: El Bañuelo Arabic baths, the Morisco House in the calle Horno de Oro, the Dar al–Horra Palace, the Corral del Carbón, the Casa de Zafra and the Casas del Chapiz (historic houses). Other associated monuments along the route (with discounts for holders of the Dobla de Oro card) include the Rodríguez–Acosta Foundation, the churches of Santa Ana, San Pedro and San Pablo, and Nuestro Salvador and Sacromonte Abbey.

Fundación Rodríguez–Acosta Rodríguez–Acosta Foundation

En la colina donde se ubica la Alhambra y a pocos metros de la misma, se encuentra situado el carmen de la Fundación Rodríguez–Acosta, uno de los edificios más singulares de España en su género. Construido en los primeros decenios del siglo XX, fue declarado Monumento Nacional en 1982. El lugar fue el estudio del prestigioso pintor José María Rodríguez–Acosta (1878–1941) y alberga un singular conjunto de jardines y una amplia colección de piezas, desde al arte antiguo al modernista, en un sorprendente recorrido por el edificio que incluye antiguas cuevas y galerías subterráneas.

Up on the hill alongside the Alhambra is the mansion housing the Rodríguez–Acosta Foundation, one of the most unusual buildings of its kind in Spain. Built in the early 20th Century, it was declared a National Monument in 1982 and was once the studio of the well–known painter, José María Rodríguez–Acosta (1878–1941). Museum of the Alhambra

El Museo de la Alhambra ocupa la planta baja del Palacio de Carlos V, se distribuye en siete salas, la primera de contenido temático y las restantes ordenadas cronológicamente. Desde los primeros momentos en el que los palacios de la Alhambra fueron habitados por los Reyes Católicos, el ajuar que queda fue protegido, reutilizado y disfrutado en la nueva Corte. A lo largo de los siglos, los objetos y restos arquitectónicos conservados se disponían decorando las estancias y también se almacenaban en diferentes espacios del recinto. Posteriormente se fueron reuniendo por conservación aquellos hallazgos procedentes de las excavaciones realizadas en la Alhambra. El número y calidad de los fondos del Museo de la Alhambra hace que sea la mejor colección existente de arte hispanomusulmán y en especial del arte nazarí. El Museo Arqueológico de la Alhambra se crea en 1940, en 1962 pasó a denominarse Museo Nacional de Arte Hispanomusulmán y desde 1994 quedó adscrito al Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, con el nombre Museo de la Alhambra.

The Museum of the Alhambra occupies the ground floor of the Palace of Charles V. It is divided into seven rooms, the first of which is devoted to a specific theme, while the others are laid out in chronological order. Ever since the palaces of the Alhambra were first inhabited by the Christian King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella the surviving household treasures were protected, re–used and enjoyed by the new court. As the centuries went by, these objects and architectural remains were used to decorate the rooms or were stored away in different places in the Alhambra complex. Later the findings made during excavations of the Monument were also stored away for conservation purposes. The number and quality of the pieces kept at the Museum of the Alhambra make it the finest collection of Hispano–Muslim art in Spain, and in particular of Nasrid Art. The Archaeological Museum of the Alhambra was created in 1940. In 1962 its name was changed to the National Museum of Hispano–Muslim Art and since 1994 it has been run by the Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife under its current name, the Museum of the Alhambra.

THE GRANADA FINE ARTS MUSEUM

Abierto al público en 1838 es, junto al Museo de Guadalajara, el museo provincial más antiguo de España. El Museo de Bellas Artes de Granada hunde sus raíces en el proceso desamortizador promovido por el ministro Álvarez Mendizábal en el siglo XIX. Con los bienes artísticos recogidos de los conventos y monasterios suprimidos se constituyó una colección en la que predomina, por este origen de sus fondos, la pintura granadina de tema religioso realizada entre el siglo XVI y el XVIII. A lo largo del siglo XX estas colecciones se han ido incrementando con obra del siglo XIX y XX, de autores y temas relacionados con Granada. Desde 1958, el Museo es identificado con el majestuoso edificio en el que se aloja: el Palacio de Carlos V, diseñado por Pedro Machuca en el siglo XVI.

Opened to the public in 1838, the Granada Fine Arts Museum is together with the Museum of Guadalajara, the oldest provincial museum in Spain. Its origins lie in the laws passed by the government minister Álvarez Mendizábal in the 19th century expropriating many of the assets of the Church and Religious Orders. The artworks discovered in convents and monasteries were brought together in a collection in which due to the origin of the pictures, the dominant theme is religious painting from the 16th to the 18th centuries. During the 20th Century these collections were expanded with 19th and 20th Century works with Granada– related themes or by artists with links to the city. Since 1958, the Museum has been identified with the majestic building that houses it: the Palace of Charles V, designed by Pedro Machuca in the 16th Century.

Esta exposición revisa monográficamente la obra temprana de Soledad Sevilla, desde finales de los sesenta hasta principios de los ochenta, cuyas exploraciones a partir de la abstracción geométrica son un ejemplo de rigor y sensibilidad plástica. En el Centro José Guerrero se exponen aproximadamente 62 piezas entre pinturas acrílicas y dibujos de distintas técnicas. En la Casa Morisca Horno de Oro se expone una instalación en la que se entrelazan hilos de cobre. Casa de oro, el título de dicha instalación que completa la muestra, se refiere al lugar donde se ubica: una extraordinaria casa del bajo Albaicín cuyo patio se transforma gracias al despliegue de una serie de planos paralelos formados por hilos de cobre que se tensan en vertical desde lo alto, como tendidos al sol, y ocupan el patio de efectos ópticos que revelan la materialidad cambiante de la luz y del espacio.

This monographic exhibition revisits the early works (from the end of the 1960s to the 1980s) of Soledad Sevilla, an artist whose explorations based on geometric abstraction are a fine example of artistic rigour and sensitivity. The show at the Centro José Guerrero has 62 pieces including acrylic paintings and drawings using different techniques. The exhibition is completed with an installation of interwoven copper wires entitled Casa de Oro on display at another venue, the Casa Horno de Oro. The installation takes its name from the venue, an extraordinary house in the Lower Albaicin, whose courtyard has been transformed thanks to the positioning of a series of parallel planes formed by copper wires which are stretched out vertically, as if hung out in the sun, and fill the courtyard with optical effects that reveal the changing materiality of light and space.

ABSTRACTION AND LIGHT. WILLIAM J.R. CURTIS

La exposición “Abstracción y Luz” presenta una selección de dibujos, pinturas y fotografías por el conocido artista, fotógrafo, historiador y crítico de arquitectura William JR Curtis. La exposición explora la forma de ver la arquitectura y el paisaje, con especial énfasis en la luz, la sombra, el agua y el espacio. Las obras de Curtis evocan las fuerzas visibles e invisibles de la naturaleza por medio de la abstracción, más allá de la representación que busca el orden subyacente de las cosas. Sus formas líricas, sea en pinturas, dibujos o fotografías, sugieren correspondencias entre los fenómenos. La instalación en sí tendrá el carácter de un “espacio mental” donde el observador experimentará el tipo de reflexión visual y poético sobre lo fundamental de la arquitectura en paralelo a la experiencia de la propia Alhambra.

The exhibition entitled “Abstraction and Light” (Abstracción y Luz) presents a selection of drawings, paintings and photographs by the well–known artist, photographer, historian and architecture critic William J.R. Curtis. The exhibition explores his way of viewing architecture and landscape, placing special emphasis on light, shade, water and space. Curtis’ works evoke the visible and invisible forces of nature through abstraction, going beyond the representative art that seeks the underlying order of things. His lyrical forms, be they in paintings, drawings or photographs suggest associations between phenomena. The installation itself will form a “mental space” in which the observer will experience a type of visual and poetic reflection on the most fundamental aspects of architecture in parallel with the experience of the Alhambra itself.

THE ALHAMBRA EDUCATES: SUMMER IN THE ALHAMBRA 2015

Verano en la Alhambra es un programa de ocio y aprendizaje lúdico relacionado con el arte y el patrimonio dirigido a niños, niñas y jóvenes. Dicha propuesta se desarrolla en los diferentes espacios de la Ciudadela de la Alhambra, declarada por la UNESCO Patrimonio Mundial, así como en el Área Educativa de la Mimbre. Se desarrollarán actividades de investigación, creación artística y percepción a través de itinerarios, talleres y visitas a lugares de interés; además se trabajarán contenidos relacionados con la historia, la arquitectura, la restauración, la arqueología, la vida cotidiana de la época, la conservación y protección del patrimonio, poniendo de relieve también otros aspectos vinculados con lo efímero en la Alhambra: la poesía, la música, los sonidos, los colores, la luz… La propuesta está diseñada para diferentes tramos de edad organizados en tres grupos: niños y niñas de 6 a 9 años, niños y niñas de 10 a 13 años, jóvenes de 14 a 17 años.

Summer in the Alhambra is a leisure and learning programme about art and heritage aimed at young boys and girls and at older children. It will be held in different spaces in the Palace city of the Alhambra, declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO, and in La Mimbre the Alhambra’s educational area. The children will take part in activities involving investigation, artistic creation and perception through itineraries, workshops and visits to places of interest; We will also be covering contents related to history, architecture, restoration, archaeology, everyday life at that time, heritage conservation and protection. Other more ephemeral aspects of the Alhambra will also be explored, including poetry, music, sounds, colours, light... The programme is aimed at children of different ages organized into three groups: young children from 6 to 9 years old, older children from 10 to 13 years old, teenagers from 14 to 17 years old.

SUMMER WORKSHOPS AT THE RODRÍGUEZ– ACOSTA FOUNDATION

Con esta propuesta la Fundación Rodríguez–Acosta quiere ofrecer un espacio para que los niños y niñas entren en contacto con el Patrimonio, el arte, la creación, la contemplación artística y el desarrollo de la creatividad. Se ofrecerán talleres de artes plásticas, de arqueología y de patrimonio y literatura, a través de los cuales los y las participantes podrán aprender, disfrutar y desarrollar su sensibilidad hacia las diferentes manifestaciones artísticas. Todo ello en un lugar emblemático de la ciudad de Granada que alberga el museo Gómez–Moreno y el estudio y la biblioteca del pintor José María Rodríguez–Acosta, con unas espectaculares vistas de la ciudad y Sierra Nevada y unos frescos patios ajardinados con diversidad de plantas y decorados con sugestivas esculturas y cuidados elementos arquitectónicos.

With this activity, the Rodríguez–Acosta Foundation is offering boys and girls a space in which they can discover Heritage, art and creation, enhance their perception of art and develop their own creativity. Workshops on art, archaeology, heritage and literature will all be on offer, giving children the chance to learn, enjoy and develop their sensitivity towards different forms of artistic expression. All of this in an emblematic building in the city of Granada, which houses a museum and the studio and library of the renowned painter, José María Rodríguez–Acosta. The house enjoys spectacular views of the city and the Sierra Nevada and has cool courtyards and gardens decorated with an array of plants, fascinating sculptures and carefully rendered architectural features.

Rafael Amargo. Poeta en Nueva York La Consejería de Educación, Cultura y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía en colaboración con el Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife instauró en el año 2002 el programa Lorca y Granada en los jardines del Generalife. La figura de Federico García Lorca y el conocimiento que universalmente se tiene de su obra unidos al poder evocador del flamenco constituyen la fórmula perfecta que sustenta esta propuesta artística. A POET IN NEW YORK The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of the Regional Government of Andalusia in collaboration with the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife launched the Lorca and Granada programme in the Generalife Gardens in 2002. The programme combines the work of the poet and playwright Federico García Lorca, well– known throughout the world, with the evocative power of flamenco to produce the perfect blend for an attractive artistic event. The Generalife Theatre offers a fantastic setting for a show of high technical and artistic quality that every summer helps produce the synergies that society expects from the world of culture in Granada: with its artists, its social fabric, its cultural industries, its hotel and catering sector and its tourist services. The programme was awarded the Granada Prestige Prize in the category of Best Tourist Show. In 2015 the Lorca and Granada Programme will be presenting A Poet in New York by Rafael Amargo. VERANO EN EL CORRAL DEL CARBÓN El Corral del Carbón (siglo XIV) fue conocido como la alhóndiga nueva o yidida (nombre en árabe), albergue y almacén para comerciantes y mercaderes llegados desde lejanos lugares y atraídos por las oportunidades de negocio del último reino musulmán en la península ibérica. El nombre actual comenzó a adoptarse en el siglo XVI y sirvió de hospedería y almacén de carboneros. Asimismo, ejerció de corral de comedias. Continuando esa antigua tradición teatral, el patio del Corral viene albergando desde hace años una extensa programación que incluye diversas disciplinas artísticas. Para la edición de este año, un conjunto de empresas promotoras presentan el siguiente programa de actividades que incluye Música (Lara Bello; David Gómez; Heian), Flamenco (XVII Muestra de Flamenco Los Veranos del Corral), Teatro (XVI Muestra de Teatro para un Instante; Akelarre Teatro; La Tetera Producciones escénicas) y Jazz (Asociación Jazz Granada), que harán las delicias del espectador por su calidad, formatos y variedad.

SUMMERS IN THE CORRAL DEL CARBÓN The Corral del Carbón (14th Century), once known as the Alhóndiga Nueva or yidida (name in Arab) was an inn and a warehouse for merchants and traders arriving from distant climes attracted by the business opportunities in the last Muslim kingdom in the Iberian Peninsula. The building’s current name (coal yard) was first coined in the 16th century when it was used as a hostel and a store for coal merchants. It was also used as a theatre showing comedies in the round. By way of continuing this long theatrical tradition, the Corral has for many years now been staging a long programme of events covering widely varying artistic disciplines. In this year’s edition various promoters will be presenting the following programme of activities, which includes Music (Lara Bello; David Gómez; Heian), Flamenco (17th Summers in the Corral Flamenco Selection), Theatre (16th Teatro para un Instante Selection; Akelarre Teatro; La Tetera Producciones Escénicas) and Jazz (Granada Jazz Association), shows that will delight spectators with their top quality, attractive formats and variety.

BOSQUE DE LA ALHAMBRA Las faldas de la Sabika que miran hacia Granada conforman un espacio natural que complementa y enriquece el patrimonio artístico y cultural del monumento y funciona como un pulmón verde entre la ciudad y la Alhambra. Su configuración ha variado a través de los siglos, de modo que el que conocemos en la actualidad es de creación reciente, lo que no impide que encontremos en él gran variedad de especies vegetales de alto valor ecológico, algunas de ellas traídas desde otros lugares de Europa. The slopes of Sabika Hill that face Granada create a natural space that complements and enriches the monumental complex’s artistic and cultural value and serves as a “green lung” between the city and the Alhambra. Its design has varied over the centuries: the woods that we know today are a recent creation, though that will not prevent us from finding a variety of plants species of great ecological value, some which were brought from elsewhsere in Europe.

Es una construcción que data del siglo XIX en la ciudad de Granada. Compuesta de palacete y amplios jardines: un jardín barroco francés, con un amplio estanque en cuyo centro hay una estatua de Neptuno y rodeado por otras estatuas que representan las cuatro estaciones; un jardín “a la inglesa”, el jardín de las Palmeras, con una fuente de tres pisos y cuadros irregulares de setos rectos y con palmeras; el Jardín Español, eliminado en 1960; el Jardín Paisajista, el Lago, con un estanque de riego que la vegetación trata de disimular, llegando a percibirse como lago, rodeado de dos isletas para patos y cisnes, la más pequeña, y ajardinada con setos y con un embarcadero de piedra con una falsa ruina medieval, la mayor; el Patio Nazarí, de 1944, en el que se copian miméticamente los elementos típicos de la jardinería nazarí, el Bosque–Laberinto que servía para enlazar los jardines.

This 19th Century construction in the city of Granada is a mansion surrounded by large gardens. The gardens consist of a French baroque garden with a large pond with a statue of Neptune in the centre, which is surrounded by other statues that represent the four seasons; an English garden; a Palm–Tree Garden, with elegant palm trees, a three–storey fountain and irregular squares of straight hedges; a Spanish Garden, removed in 1960; a Landscape Garden; the Lake, a water deposit that is partially disguised by vegetation to the extent that it looks like a lake, and which surrounds two little islands, the smaller one intended for ducks and swans, and the larger one landscaped with hedges and a stone jetty with a pseudo–medieval ruin; the Nasrid courtyard built in 1944, offers exact reproductions of the typical features of a Nasrid garden; and the Maze–Forest which was used to connect the different gardens.

Vivir hoy la Casa Museo Manuel de Falla es descubrir la vida íntima de un genio y participar del lugar donde coexistieron los más grandes representantes de la Cultura española de la primera mitad del siglo XX. Federico García Lorca, Ignacio Zuloaga, Wanda Landowska, Ángel Barrios, Manuel Ángeles Ortiz, Andrés Segovia, Margarita Xirgu, Juan Ramón Jiménez... y tantos otros amigos del Maestro Falla, tertuliaban, junto al encanto del jardín de la casa y... “ante el panorama más hermoso del mundo”, sobre la grandeza social del Arte. El genial compositor español Manuel de Falla vivió en esta casa, un típico carmen granadino, junto a su hermana María del Carmen, entre 1922 y 1939. En ella pervive el ambiente que sirvió de inspiración a algunas de sus grandes obras.

When you step inside the Manuel de Falla House–Museum you are transported into the home life of a genius and become part of a place where the brightest lights of Spanish culture in the first half of the 20th century assembled. And so many other friends of Maestro Falla would come there to chat about the importance of art, in the charming garden opposite “the most beautiful panorama in the world”. The brilliant Spanish composer Manuel de Falla lived in this house, a typical Carmen (traditional Granada house), with his sister María del Carmen, from 1922 to 1939. The atmosphere that served as an inspiration for some of his greatest works still pervades the house.

El Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada tiene su origen en los conciertos sinfónicos que desde 1883 se celebraban en el Palacio de Carlos V, durante las fiestas del Corpus Christi, y en el Concurso de Cante Jondo convocado en 1922 por García Lorca, Falla y otros intelectuales y artistas de la época. Adopta la denominación de Festival en 1952 y desde 1970 se honra con la Presidencia de Honor de Su Majestad la Reina doña Sofía. Fue el primer miembro español de la Asociación Europea de Festivales, a la que pertenece desde 1955 y es miembro constituyente de la Asociación Española de Festivales de Música Clásica desde 2007. Cuenta en la actualidad con la participación institucional del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte, la Junta de Andalucía, el Ayuntamiento de Granada, la Diputación de Granada, la Universidad de Granada y el Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, y con la ayuda de numerosos patrocinadores y colaboradores.

The Granada International Festival of Music and Dance originally arose out of the symphony concerts held at the Palace of Charles V during the fiestas of Corpus Christi since 1883 and the Flamenco Singing Contest organized in 1922 by Federico García Lorca, Manuel de Falla and other intellectuals and artists of the time. The event became a Festival in 1952 and since 1970 it is honoured to have Her Majesty Queen Sofia as its Honorary President. It was the first Spanish member of the European Association of Festivals, which it joined in 1955, and it has been a founding member of the Spanish Association of Classical Music Festivals since 2007. It is currently backed by various institutions including the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Regional Government of Andalusia, Granada City Council, Granada Provincial Council, the University of Granada and the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife, with the support of numerous sponsors and collaborators.

Por cuarto año consecutivo, el Auditorio Manuel de Falla organiza un ciclo de conciertos que bajo el título Guitarra en los Jardines de Falla se podrá disfrutar los jueves de los meses de julio, agosto y septiembre. Guitarra en los Jardines de Falla nos evocan el ambiente estival de esos mágicos atardeceres, tal y como lo describe poéticamente Juan Ramón Jiménez. Entre el perfume y la brisa de esta colina, bajo el cielo granadino, grandes intérpretes nos acercarán a la obra de Turina, Albéniz, Barrios, Granados, de Falla, Lorca... Con esta iniciativa cultural, el Auditorio Manuel de Falla pretende enriquecer la oferta cultural, turística y de ocio de la ciudad de Granada en verano. En este sentido planteamos un programa que reivindica la música española y permite mostrar el gran trabajo de jóvenes músicos e intérpretes de nuestra tierra. La oferta es atractiva para el público local pero también para el que nos visita y permite disfrutar de una agradable velada musical en el bello entorno de los jardines del Auditorio Manuel de Falla.

For the fourth consecutive year the Manuel de Falla Auditorium is organizing a series of concerts entitled Guitar in the Falla Gardens on Thursday evenings in July, August and September. Guitar in the Falla Gardens aims to evoke that warm summer atmosphere of magical evenings, so poetically described by Juan Ramón Jiménez. Amongst the sweet aromas and the breeze that cooled the hill, under the Granada sky, great performers will give us their renditions of Turina, Albéniz, Barrios, Granados, de Falla, Lorca... With this cultural project the Manuel de Falla Auditorium seeks to broaden and improve the range of cultural, tourist and leisure–related events on offer in the city of Granada this summer. With this in mind we propose a programme that stands up for Spanish music and allows young musicians and performers from this area to show us what a great job they are doing. This programme is attractive for local people and also for those who come to visit and allows you to enjoy a pleasant musical evening in the picturesque setting of the gardens of the Manuel de Falla Auditorium.

Un año más la Orquesta Ciudad de Granada y el Coro de la OCG participan en el Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada. En esta ocasión, dirigidos por Lluís Vilamajó, serán los protagonistas del programa Barrocos populares, con obras de Bach y Vivaldi. Asimismo, la Orquesta Ciudad de Granada presenta “Una voz cautivadora”, un atractivo programa sinfónico junto a la cantante israelí Noa, que incluirá algunos de sus temas más existosos.

The City of Granada Orchestra (OCG) and the OCG Choir will once again be taking part in the International Festival of Music and Dance of Granada. On this occasion, both the Orchestra and the Choir conducted by Lluís Vilamajó will be the stars of the program “Traditional Baroque Works” performing pieces by Bach and Vivaldi. The City of Granada Orchestra will also be showcasing in Granada “A beguiling voice”, an appealing symphonic program together with the Israeli singer Noa, who will be singing some of her most successful songs.

La OCG inaugura su temporada de otoño de la mano del director Lluís Vilamajó, tenor de absoluta referencia en el universo barroco, y que en los últimos años viene destacando como director coral. Junto al Coro de la OCG interpretarán obras de Bruckner, Schubert, Mendelssohn y Rheinberger.

The OCG will be opening its autumn season under the baton of the world–famous Baroque tenor Lluís Vilamajó, who in recent years has become an outstanding choirmaster. They will be performing works by Bruckner, Schubert, Mendelssohn and Rheinberger, together with the OCG Choir.

With the Málaga Symphony Orchestra

Pasión Vega presenta su nuevo trabajo que lleva por título Pasión por Cano. En este disco, la cantante malagueña realiza un emotivo y sentido homenaje al desaparecido Carlos Cano a través de doce canciones emblemáticas de su repertorio más un tema inédito titulado Soy del sur y compuesto por Martínez Ares. Una producción altamente cuidada y de gran calidad que corre a cargo del compositor Fernando Velázquez, nominado a los Premios Goya por las bandas sonoras de las películas El orfanato y Lo imposible y ganador de los Premios CEC y de los Premios de la Música por el primer filme. Ha compuesto además las bandas sonoras de Ocho apellidos vascos y Los ojos de Julia, entre muchísimas otras. La artista presentará su homenaje en la ciudad de Carlos Cano, en un escenario incomparable, acompañada por la Orquesta Sinfónica de Málaga.

The singer from Malaga, Pasión Vega, presents her new album entitled Pasión por Cano in which she pays an emotional and heartfelt tribute to Carlos Cano in 12 emblematic songs from his repertoire plus a previously unreleased song entitled Soy del sur composed by Martínez Ares. With a highly professional top–quality production by the composer Fernando Velázquez, nominated for the Goya Prize for his soundtracks for the films The Impossible and The Orphanage, which won the CEC awards and the Music Prize. He also composed the soundtracks for Spanish Affair and Julia’s Eyes, among many other films. The artist will be presenting her tribute to Carlos Cano in a unique setting in Granada, Cano’s city, accompanied by the Málaga Symphony Orchestra.
